From the desk of Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson

Busy week for the Bates County Sheriff’s Office. Over the 4th of July weekend deputies from the Bates County Sheriff’s Office logged over 400 hours of overtime to fill the needs of the community.

Majority of the overtime hours were spent in the community of Rich Hill for their festival. Our established goals for the weekend were to make sure the community was safe and welcoming to the visitors from outside of Bates County.

Complaints received from the Hume community also drew additional patrols to that community and at one point 6 deputies patrolled the city.

Deputies and Sheriff’s Posse also participated and represented the Sheriff’s Office in the Drexel Parade, Adrian Parade and the Rich Hill parade.

Deputies are gearing up to participate in the County fair this next week and have something planned with the youth at the fair.

We appreciate being part of the community and serving the citizens of the county.
