Two arrested after search warrant served

On Friday July 7th members of the CNET (Community Narcotic Enforcement Team) along with the Cedar County Sheriff's Office and Nevada Police Department served a search warrant at the residence of 61 year old William D. Frank in El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

According to Cedar County Sheriff James "Jimbob" McCrary approximately 1.5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, cash, and illegal drug items were seized.

Mr. Frank, as well as 19 year old Dayton Moss were arrested and Frank was charged with felony delivery of a controlled substance and is in Cedar County Jail on $35,000 bond.

Dayton Moss was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and is being held on a $20,000 bond.

Foster shining early at Bates County Fair

We would like to congratulate Drexel FFA member Natalie Foster! 

Today, Natalie showed 5 of her chickens at the Bates County Fair. She has been raising these chickens as part of her SAE. 

She also had the opportunity to enter the showmanship competition to "show off" her handling skills and knowledge that she has gained since starting her project. 

When everything was finished, Natalie walked away with 5 blue ribbons and was the Reserve Champion Senior Showmanship!!

Congratulation s Natalie!! On to the next one!!





Arrest made in stolen vehicle case

On July 4th around 2:05 a.m. the El Dorado Springs Police Department assisted the Nevada Police Department concerning a stolen vehicle from their city. 

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Tyler J. Pate, 25, of Stockton, Missouri for the probable cause of stealing a motor vehicle. 

He was transferred to Vernon County Sheriff's Department, pending a warrant. The stolen vehicle was recovered.

Obituary - Daniel Robert Righter, Sr.

Daniel Robert Righter, Sr., 72, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 in his home, in Nevada, Mo. Dan was born August 1,1950 in Springfield Missouri to Leonard “Pete ” and Opal Righter.

Dan graduated from Nevada High School in 1968. Following high school, he attended Missouri State University. Dan was a parts manager at C.A White Motors and Brown Ford in Nevada, Mo.

He moved to Camdenton, Mo in 1989 and worked at Ozark Ford in Camdenton, Mo until 2001. Dan was retired and worked at the Nevada Daily Mail up until his death.

Dan was a member of the Nevada Elks Lodge for several years. Dan loved to hunt and fish. He was known for his woodworking and mechanical skills as well as helping anyone who needed something.

Survivors include his children; Dan Righter Jr. and his wife, Angela, of Camdenton Mo; Jefferson James Righter and his wife Alisha, of Buffalo Mo; Misty Jones and her husband Tony, of Springfield Mo; 8 grandchildren including: Morgan, Taylor, Lydia, Katie, Emily, Sydney, Jaden, Brooklyn. Great grandson Colt and soon to be great granddaughter, Amiyah. Siblings: Joe Righter of Ripley Ohio, Barbara Lavell of Murrieta Ca., Pat Jackson of Nevada Mo, Doug Righter of Golden City Mo. Preceded in death by his parents Pete and Opal; brother Peter Jefferson Righter and Diane Nicolaou.

Celebration of Life services will be held from 12-2pm at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada Mo. on July 29, 2023. Contributions may be made in Dan’s memory to his surviving dog, Boney P, to the family, in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
