Obituary - Bonnie Lee Reed

Bonnie Lee Minton Reed, beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Reed, loving mother of Goldie Rogers (David), loving grandmother of Stacey Fox (Chris), and loving great-grandmother of Lydia and Cooper, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 20, 2023. She passed away peacefully at KC Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 83. She had suffered for ten days from injuries due to a fall she couldn’t overcome.

Bonnie Lee Minton was born in Rich Hill Missouri, on Thursday, October 19, 1939, the dearest only child of Ozborne and Lucille Coleman Minton Bell. She attended school in Rich Hill. Bonnie was raised in the family home by her loving grandmother Annie Minton, where she lived for the duration of her life.

She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Reed on May 15, 1956. To this union a daughter was born, Goldie Lucille. Bonnie was a stay-at-home mom until 1966 when she began working for Scoot Eastland. In 1974, she was employed with Rich Hill Truck & Equipment, where she stayed until her retirement in 2020. Over the years she enjoyed working with and watching four generations work at Rich Hill Truck.

When she wasn’t working, there were two things that brought her the most joy – her family and shopping. You could always find Bonnie out shopping if she wasn’t at work. It was nothing for her to go to Kansas City every weekend, at least once!

You could always find her granddaughter, Stacey, close by. Years later, the arrival of Lydia and Cooper completed her heart and family! Cooper broke the fourth-generation tradition of “only girl child” on that side of the family. Bonnie was always involved with her great-grandchildren! She rarely missed a school function or event the kids were involved in.

Being a lifelong resident of Rich Hill, she and her husband loved the famous Fourth of July celebrations. Each year they looked forward to attending the pie auction and purchasing their favorite pie. Bonnie always loved generously contributing toward the cause!

Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Bill” Reed, and her parents.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Heuser Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Burial will follow in the Green Lawn Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Rich Hill 4th of July.

Obituary - Bryan Wayne Thrash

Bryan Wayne Thrash, age 52, passed away on July 9th, 2023. After a very long battle with illness and health issues, Bryan Thrash has finally said goodbye to this world that we live in.

This unfortunate tragedy occurred in the home of a friend, in West Bourbon County, Kansas. Bryan was born July 21, 1970, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center of Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

Bryan loved his family and friends very much. He was such an outgoing person and was full of love and laughter. He was very comedic and was never afraid or shy to reach in and pull out that funny side to him.

Bryan also loved music. Very much. No matter what he was doing, or where he was at, he always seemed to be jamming to some tunes. And very much enjoying himself. He also loved the great outdoors. Rather than be going out and doing some fishing, or just simply kicking back and enjoying the weather for the day.

But one of Bryan's major passions would have to be being able to cook out on the barbeque grill. He absolutely loved throwing down on the grill and whipping up some delicious BBQ for the family and friends. Bryan was a great cook overall, and he liked to whip up some meals in the kitchen. Bryan served as a food preparation specialist at a local Go Chicken Go for many years. Over fifteen years, to be exact. And he absolutely loved what he did. Bryan will surely be missed.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Carpenter and his son, Brett Thrash along with his two sisters, Jennifer Thrash and Danielle Carpenter. Bryan also left behind numerous nephews and nieces as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Bryan may have left the world too soon, but he will permanently remain in the hearts of his loved ones. Bryan Wayne Thrash, you will be forever missed, and may you finally find the peace you've been searching for. Until we meet again.
