Butler Bears beat the Sherwood Marksmen 28-6

The Butler Bears traveled to play the Sherwood Marksmen tonight in week 2 of the Missouri State High School football action.

Butler was too much for Sherwood with a final score of 28-6 and moving the overall record to 2-0 on the young season for Butler.

The Bears was led by Senior QB Dylan Davidson who rushed for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns. Junior Running back Xavier Wisdom had 51 rushing yards and a touchdown.

On Defense the bears had interceptions by Senior LB Issac Rodriguez and Sophomore DB Jake Chandler (3rd of the season).

The Bears defensive line dominated Sherwood holding them to a game total of 210 yards and led upfront by Senior Brighton Orso and Junior Dylan Triebel.

Butler finished with 321 total offensive yards. The Bears will host the Versailles Tigers on Friday September 8th. Come out and support the bears!!

Thank you!

The Bates County Memorial Hospital would like to thank Kershner Heating and Cooling and Frozen Food Express for going above and beyond for our hospital.

This summer, the compressor on our kitchen’s walk-in freezer was limping along, and Kershner H&C made every attempt to repair it, but on August 23, it gave out. Anyone who has had a freezer die might understand what it means to salvage food in that situation.

Our kitchen keeps about a two-week supply on hand according to our Nutrition Services Supervisor, Susan Baptista, to meet hospital requirements and (in recent years) to avoid running out of items due to supply chain shortages.

After contacting Susan about the situation, Anita Kershner immediately started making calls including a conversation with Dan Nelson of Frozen Food Express. Within an hour a “reefer” (frozen storage trailer) arrived at the hospital’s dock, and between BCMH and Kershner’s employees and Frozen Food Express’ driver Johnny Curtright, all goods from our walk-in freezer were moved to the reefer in 30 minutes.

“We did not lose any of it,” Susan said. “I appreciate everything they did for us. A big kudos and shout out to every one of them.”

In addition, Perry from Kershner H&C took his day off to replace the freezer’s compressor, and the reefer remained at the hospital’s dock until Monday when our employees could transfer foods back.
We love our community and enjoy excellent services from many local businesses.

With our hospital’s aging facility, we could tell this kind of story many times over. Special thanks to Rick, Anita and Perry from Kershner Heating & Cooling, Dan Nelson, Lois Durbin and Johnny Curtright with Frozen Food Express, and our own employees Susan Baptista, Rob Clover, Mike Keiser, Dickie Reinke, and Sara Foltz.
