Update: Name released of deceased female on Ohio Street in Butler

The decedent reported Saturday on Ohio Street in Butler is positively identified as Betty Scott, 68. Forensic analysis indicates foul play is not involved in her death. Investigation will continue and is expected to confirm a natural death.

My thoughts and prayers to the family and particularly Ms. Scott's friends and neighbors, who were of much help in locating family and other needed information.

Respectfully,
Greg D. Mullinax
Bates County Coroner

Thank You!

Shelby Duffield and her family would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who has donated money, supplies, gift cards, food cards, food and purchased #ShelbyStrong t-shirts and bracelets. We would say thank you to everyone individually, but we'd be afraid we'd leave someone out.

We also want to give a big THANK YOU to the Foster Board and area community for the generosity shown this past weekend @ Foster Day. Our small town and area communities have helped Shelby in a big way!

Obituary - Dale “Bob” Robert Kyle Jr.

Dale “Bob” Robert Kyle Jr., age 62, of Drexel, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughters on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the Hospital of North Kansas City, Kansas City MO. A Celebration of Life will take place Wednesday September 20th, 2023.

Visitation at 1:00 pm with a service at 2:00 pm at Mullinax Funeral Home in Drexel, Missouri and a graveside memorial to follow at Sharon Cemetery in Drexel MO.

Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (816-657-4400). Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Laura Kyle with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Dale was born January 5, 1961, and was the son of the late Robert and Patricia Miller.

Robert and Patricia Miller were foster parents providing Dale the opportunity to grow up with many siblings. Dale was an Eagle Scout as a child and ran track in school. He met Laura the summer before junior high and have been together ever since, graduating together in 1980 and married in 1983.

The couple moved to Drexel in 1985 where they welcomed three beautiful daughters together and their family was complete. Dale volunteered with the Drexel Fire Department for several years. He loved the outdoors working in lawn care his whole life starting at Suburban Lawn and Garden in 1981, then for Rose Hill Gardens, and finally starting his own lawn care business Kyle’s Lawn Care with his daughter.

Dale was a devoted Pa and loved each of his four grandchildren. He enjoyed camping with his family and traveling to Colorado for summer vacations. Dale loved watching his grandchildren play sports, participating in the fourth of July and Halloween parades, and going on family trips.

Dale enjoyed sitting on his porch with his dog, chatting with neighbors as they walked by. Dale loved collecting t-shirts and windchimes. Whenever he took a trip, he would always buy multiple shirts and he was the easiest to buy souvenirs for because he only wanted shirts.

During the last few years of his life Dale went to dialysis several times a week where he met a group of people, he called his “DCI Gang”.

Dale is survived by his wife Laura, daughters Sarah (Kristine) Herman, Melissa (Charley) Gravelle, Rebecca (Ryan) Cornell-Kyle, grandchildren, Ava and Wyatt Herman and Grayson and Gunner Gravelle and his beloved dog Mikey.

Even though the loss is great, we know Dale is smiling down at us and is at peace and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
