Charles was born on February 29, 1932 in Butler, Missouri, the son of Arthur Hardinger and Donna Spears Hardinger.

Charles, or as everyone called him “Charlie” served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, where he was stationed in Maryland at Aberdeen Proving Grounds as a Munitions Sergeant. He then went on to have a son Charles Arthur Hardinger Jr. or “Chuck” that was born in 1956. Charlie worked in Kansas City as a delivery driver for Manor Bakery, an electronics technician for Sears-Roebuck. He was self-employed as an appliance repairman before retiring. He was a very skilled handyman and electrician.

Charlie went on to marry Edna Hollar, the two were married for 50 years when she passed in 2020. He loved Edna with all of his heart. Charlie went on many adventures traveling and campng throughout the U.S. with Edna and Chuck from Pike’s Peak, Cape Canaveral, Niagara Falls, to Washington DC.

You would never hear him speak a bad word about anyone, and he always had a smile for those that he crossed paths with. Charlie was the type of man that was able to find the humor and positive in any situation. Chuck called his dad the kindest and gentlest man that he had ever know. He was just an all around great and loving man.
