The Bates County Sheriff's Office is on scene of a semi truck that is blocking the roadway at this time on 52 West Highway just west of the Butler City Lake near CR 5001. 

Please avoid this area as crews work to get this cleaned up.

Obituary - George “Mike” Michael Price

George “Mike” Michael Price, 72, of Archie, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Golden Years in Harrisonville, MO. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 6:30pm Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Cass County Elks Lodge in Harrisonville.

Mike was born October 24, 1951 in Kansas City, MO, a son of David L. and Nora C. (Billingsley) Price. He spent his early years in Americus, Kansas, and was a 1969 graduate of Americus High School. 

He attended college for two years at Emporia State University in Emporia, KS, before starting work in the construction field. Mike was a concrete flatwork finisher and owned his own company, GMP Flatwork, and retired after 36 years on the job.

Mike moved to Archie in 2000, and was united in marriage to Dawn Rusow on May 16, 2003 at his sister’s home in Gravette, Arkansas. He was a member of the Cass County Elks Lodge in Harrisonville.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David; and two sisters, Cecilia and Rosemary. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Price, Archie, MO; two sons: James Rusow, Cleveland, MO; and Justin Rusow, Adrian, MO; two daughters: Michelle Price, Washington State; and Jennifer Renee Murphy, Adrian, MO; two sisters: Sheri Heath, Gravette, Arkansas; and Patricia Price, Gravette, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Cass County Sheriff's Office Alert: Please stay off the roads if you don't need to travel

Traffic Alert: The Cass County Sheriff's Office have responded to several incidents because of slick driving conditions, including this one on Southbound I-49 at 307th St. Three semi-trucks were involved in this incident.

Due to this inclement weather, Cass County Circuit Courts and the Sheriff's Business Office are closed today, January 22nd.

Slick Monday around the area...

The ice has sure caused a lot of craziness today around the county. Emergency personnel have been extra busy with wrecks, falls and slide-offs. 

Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson sent out an advisory early this morning to stay home if all possible. He stated that we currently have deputies who are also stuck in their vehicles and we are unable to get to them. We advise not to travel if you don't have to.

The Butler Police Department is on scene of a semi truck that is blocking the roadway at this time at the intersection of Maple and Clark in north Butler.

Please avoid this area and stay home if you can! 

Springfield woman injured in Bates County crash

On Sunday January 21st around 9:40 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and the Butler Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 at mile marker 135.6 in rural Passaic.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a 2002 Oldsmobile van driven by 41 year old Christopher Bishop of Springfield, MO began to slide, and a 2011 Ford Explorer driven by a 17 year old male from Adrian attempted to pass by the van, began to slide, and impacted the van. The two vehicles then ran off opposite sides of the roadway.

A passenger in the van, 26 year old Mikayla Wurzburger of Springfield sustained minor injuries, and was taken to Bates County Memorial Hospital.

Ongoing icy conditions this morning

Ongoing icy conditions from light freezing rain has impacted most areas this morning. While the freezing rain will come to an end, the conditions will greatly affect the morning commute. A second round of minor ice accumulation is possible tonight.


Rollover accident west of Butler

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and Butler Fire Department are on scene of a rollover accident on Missouri 52 West Highway and K Highway around 3 miles west of Butler.

The accident is said to involve a MoDot truck that overturned. Please use caution if you must travel in this area. If you don't have to travel then please don't.
