Obituary - Martha Henne

Martha Henne, age 77, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri. with visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. 

Burial to follow in the Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri. Memorial Contributions can be made to C.A.R.E. and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Martha Alice Henne was born on April 4, 1946 in Alta, Arkansas to Emmett and Mildred McAllister. She was one of eleven children. Martha lived in California most her life, later residing in Clinton, Missouri. She was a great artist that loved to draw and paint, she was funny and loved being around people. She worked as a waitress and supervisor. Family was a big part of her life and was very important to her.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, her son Kelly Bridge, and 5 siblings, Dale, Richard, Carol, Linda and Don.

Survivors include her husband John Henne, two sons, Mike Bridge, Mark Bridge, three grandchildren, Cheryl, Zabrina, and Katlyn, five siblings, Patricia Orvis, Shirley Jackson, Mary Haden, James McAllister, David McAllister and a host of nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

Obituary - Joseph Wayne Rash

Joseph Wayne Rash, age 43, a resident of Garland, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at his home. He was born June 26, 1980, in Kansas City, the son of Wayne Cecil Rash and Donna Mae Cole Rash. 

Joseph enjoyed reading about history, collecting comic books and movies, and spending time on the computer. He attended the Hannon Freewill Baptist Church in Liberal, Missouri. Joseph loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and had read the entire Bible.

Survivors include his mother, Donna Rash; three sisters, Rosemary Harris of Ft. Scott, Kay Wallace of Pittsburg, Kansas and Donna Hassan of Cady, Texas and three brothers, Glenn Rash of Ft. Scott, Cecil Rash of Topeka, Kansas and Roy Rash of Independence, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Wesley Wallace and Henry Rash and a sister, Sherry Palmer.

There was cremation. A memorial service with burial in the Dayton Cemetery will be held at a later. Memorials are suggested to the Joseph Rash Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Obituary - Dorothea Mae Meritt

Dorothea (Dot) Mae Meritt, 95, Nevada, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Dorothea was born June 22, 1928 in Nevada, MO to Charles Ira and Prudie Ann (Dark) Garwood. She was united in marriage to Orville Eugene Meritt on June 20, 1948 in Nevada and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2005.

Dorothea grew up in Nevada and was a graduate of Nevada High School. She worked various jobs, eventually going to work for two local optometrists, Dr. Ira Spencer and Dr. Robert Hatch where she continued working for 30 years until her retirement. Dorothea left a legacy of strong faith in Jesus, never ending love for her family, and a very strong will that helped her persevere throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, Mother, and Grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter, Pam Ogle and her husband Steve, Nevada; three grandsons, Jeff Addington and his wife Lisa, Rogersville, MO, Kevin Addington and his wife Jennifer, Hernando, MS, and Cole Ogle, Nevada, MO; two great-grandsons, Gage Addington, Hernando, MS, and Jake Addington, St. Louis, MO; one great-granddaughter, Britni Addington, Hernando, MS; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Orville, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Meritt; three brothers, Chester Garwood, Clarence Garwood, and Buford Garwood; and two sisters, Mabel Janssens, and Melba Bowen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Kenny Batson officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Heartland Hospice, Moore-Few Care Center, and On My Own, who all provided loving care to “Mom” and her family.

Memorials are suggested in her name to Pro Medica Hospice or Moore-Few Care Center c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Obituary - Nolberto Garcia Lara

Nolberto Garcia Lara, 67, Nevada, MO, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born June 7, 1956 in Jalisco, Mexico.

Nolberto was a good man, grandpa, friend, dad, and uncle. We love you Robert, you'll never be forgotten but will sure be missed a lot. But the Lord knew it was time for you to go home to him now, we will meet in another life.

No services are planned.

Obituary - Tony Lee Barnes

Tony Lee Barnes, age 56, of Hume, MO, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at Freeman Hospital West, in Joplin, MO.

Tony was born December 27, 1967, in Turner, KS to William Martin and Betty Lou (Denning) Barnes. He was a high school graduate and worked as a mechanic. He married Geneva Mitchell, and she survives. Tony enjoyed working on vehicles, fishing and driving. He loved FORDs but loved his grandchildren the most.

In addition to Geneva Barnes, he is survived by his children; Kelvin (Stephanie) Barnes, Siloam Springs, AR, Bobby (Jolena) Barnes, Siloam Springs, AR, Chris (Amanda) Barnes, Nevada, MO, Steven Barnes, Kansas, Debra (Therron) Stewart, San Antonio, TX and Betty (Kenneth) Barnes, Decatur, AR; 29 grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Amy) Barnes, Nevada, MO and Robert Barnes, Stotesbury, MO; one sister, Karen Brillhart, Texas.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Anthony Barnes, two brothers, Wayne Barnes and Martin Barnes, and a granddaughter, Addie Stewart.

The funeral service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Ferry Funeral Home.

Obituary - Valeta June Armstrong

Valeta June Armstrong, age 83, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Cullen Funeral Home 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. June will then be laid to rest at Raymore Cemetery next to her husband of 58 years.

June was born in Westville, Oklahoma on March 31, 1940 to Calmeta O’Lee and Ora (West) Chadwell. Not long after graduating high school, June married Robert E. Armstrong and moved to the Kansas City area, where she remained for the rest of her life. She worked at Grandview City Hall for over 30 years in the community development department, from which she retired. June loved visiting with her family, gardening, and flowers. She also loved going to Lake Pomona in Kansas where for 30 years she spent time on her pontoon boat with her late husband, friends and family.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Calmeta and Ora Chadwell; husband Robert E. Armstrong; brother, Ronnie Chadwell; and sister Clorine Watson.

She is survived by her two sons, Randy L. Armstrong (Gwen) and Rob D. Armstrong (Kathy); sister, Carolyn Lacie (Rodney); four grandchildren, Kelsey Hall (Brance), Victoria Green (Adam), Samantha Armstrong, and Ivan Armstrong; six great grandchildren, William Hall, Lucas Hall, Jasen Hall, Jonathan Green, Kayleigh Green, and Colette Green with one great grandchild on the way. Also two nephews, Andy Watson and Jeff Phillips along with three nieces, Shelly Walker, Becky Goza, and Amy Watson.
