One arrested after police chase

On 02/13/2024, at approximately 10:23pm, a Butler Officer conducted a traffic stop on Dodge Ram pickup on Rice Road for defective equipment.

The driver, identified as Christina Adams had an active warrant for her arrest out of the City of Rich Hill. When the Butler Officer advised Ms. Adams that she had an active warrant, she stated “I’m not going to jail.” And started the vehicle.

In an attempt to apprehend Ms. Adams and prevent her from fleeing, the Butler Officer struck the driver side window of the vehicle with his fist, shattered it, and sustained a minor injury to his arm. Ms. Adams then fled in her vehicle at a high rate of speed traveling North on Rice Road.

The Butler Officers then pursued Ms. Adams. The pursuit continued North on Rice Road, onto West Fort Scott Street, and onto South Bound I-49.

Butler Officers continued to pursue Ms. Adams on I-49 until a Bates County Sheriff’s Office Deputy entered the pursuit and assisted in bringing the pursuit to a stop by use of the Grappler Device just north of Rich Hill on I-49. Ms. Adams was then taken into custody and transported to the Bates County Jail.

The Butler Officer received medical treatment at the Bates County Memorial Hospital for his injuries. Formal charges in relation to the pursuit are pending.

The Butler Police Department would like to thank the Bates County Sheriff's Office for assisting in bringing this pursuit to a safe ending.
