As a result, a Freeze Warning is in effect for northern MO, generally north of Highway 36, and a Frost Advisory is in effect for areas along and south of Highway 36.

Cass County Sheriff’s Office Holds Touch-A-Truck Event

Cass County Sheriff’s Office Holds Touch-A-Truck Event ...

We held our Touch-a-Truck event combined with a hiring fair this afternoon at the Cass County Sheriff’s Office in Harrisonville.

Around 275 people showed up — getting a close look at the vehicles our Office has at its disposal. Kids enjoyed a bouncy house, scavenger hunt and coloring pages.

All of them also received a bag of goodies as they exited. Adults also got the chance to take a pre-employment test, for a chance to potentially start a career at the Sheriff’s Office.

Everyone was also offered free food at this event. “It was great community fun for the family. We appreciate the opportunity to share our staff, resources and capabilities.

We had over 20 specialized units that do so much for our community on display. I’m proud of the men and women of the Cass County Sheriff's Office who do so much every day to keep Cass County safe.”

BHS Alumni Baseball Game In The Books

Butler High School Baseball hosted its annual alumni game last night. This event is quickly becoming one of the communities  favorite nights of baseball season.

Our new guys getting the chance to take the field with some of our “more experienced” former alumni players and learning some lessons about tradition and being a part of things that are bigger than themselves. There’s just so much to love about it.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out as a participant for making last evening a possibility and to the community that continues to support, and grow this program.

The Alumni team defeated the current Butler team 6-5 in the final! So much Bear pride!

Arrest made in Butler on Child Endangerment Charges

On 4/19/2024, at approximately 2:12pm, while on patrol, a Butler Officer observed a blue Dodge Caravan in a parking lot off of Fort Scott Street near a residence with the driver side door open and a child less than two years of age walking around the van. When the Officer approached the van, he also observed a second child that was unattended in a car seat. The 2nd child was less than one year of age.

The officer did not observe there to be any adult present with the child so, the officer stayed with the child for approximately 5 minutes until the child’s mother, later identified as Alexis Johnson came out of the nearby residence.

The Officer believed that he could smell the odor of intoxicants omitting from Alexis and he then asked her to submit to a preliminary breath test to which she agreed. The results of the breath test indicated that Alexis was intoxicated. Alexis stated that she had just returned home from Walmart with the children.

Due to the children being in the care of Alexis and being left unattended where they were placed in danger of walking into traffic as well as Alexis being in an intoxicated state while in sole care of the children, Alexis was placed in custody and transported to the Bates County jail. Alexis was issued a citation for Driving While Intoxicated and on 4/20/2024, a warrant was issued with the following charges:

Two counts of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child Creating Substantial Risk- 1st Degree - Class D Felony. Alexis Johnson was assigned a bond amount of $20,000 Cash Only
