Obituary - Randall Alan Glenn

Randall Alan Glenn, 65, of Butler, MO, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at his home. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.

Randy was born May 12, 1959, in Wichita, KS, the son of Vernon and Donna (Hoover) Glenn. Right out of high school, he worked for Boeing until he decided to be an over the road truck driver. This is how he met his wife of 38 years, Verdean Glenn. They were united in marriage on June 24, 1985, in Miami, Oklahoma.

They were team drivers for years until they decide to stay local and had their own dump truck business. Unfortunately, Randy was injured while doing this and had to step away from this industry. At this time, Randy went to college and earned his Bachelor’s degree in disaster/emergency response management. This helped him land his dream job working with Farmers Insurance. He and Verdean drove the Farmers Insurance catastrophe response bus.

Verdean tagged along and become just as involved as him. They worked many tornadoes, hurricanes, and wildfires. They were there to help Farmers Insured clients during their time of need. He went above and beyond at this job and was super proud of his accomplishments within Farmers. One of his most memorable moments was being able to drive this bus during the Rose Bowl Parade a couple of times.

When Randy wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with Verdean and his two grandsons, Jesse and Bo (Justen) Waters. He took them fishing and taught them many life lessons. Randy enjoyed smoking meat, making metal cut-out designs, landscaping, riding UTVs, and basically tinkering and taking ANYTHING apart. He was a good friend and a great partner for Verdean. He would drop anything to help you out and never met a stranger. In his later life, he and Verdean spent a lot of time in Ajo, Arizona, where they made many friends and would ride their ranger to the Mexico border.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Glenn; his wife, Verdean; and his sister, Kathleen Brown. He is survived by his mother, Donna Glenn, Cunningham, KS; sister, Verna Lankford, Salisbury, MD; brother, Gerald “Jerry” Glenn, Cunningham, KS; step-son, Jay, and wife, Kellie Waters, Butler, MO; grandchildren: Jesse Waters and wife, Raelyn; Justen “Bo” Waters and wife, Kiersten; and Alyssa Waters; and one great-granddaughter, Kathryn (Kate) Waters.
