Obituary - Harold W. Wright

Harold W. Wright, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024 at his home in Clinton, Missouri surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2024 also at the Chapel. Burial to follow in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to the Harold Wright Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Harold was born on July 21, 1942 in Lowry City, Missouri. He was the son of Avis “Bud” and Sarah (Bailey) Wright. Harold attended Clinton High School. On October 5, 1961, he married Victoria Jean (Houk) Wright. They celebrated 54 years of marriage together.

Harold drove a truck over the road for many years, then drove locally before retiring. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He loved spoiling his grandchildren, especially the great grandchildren.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and great granddaughter Andrea May Turner.

Survivors include three children; James Dennis Wright (Karen) of Windsor, Missouri, Patricia Ann Martin (Raymond) of Clinton, Missouri, and Harold David Wright (Tony) of Dallas, Texas, two siblings; Penny Eichelberger of Clinton, Missouri and Newton Wright of Clinton, Missouri, three grandchildren; April Dawn Bigler (Timothy Lindsey) of Panama City, Florida, Stephanie Nicole Hursh (Rodney) of Centerview, Missouri, and Matthew Wright of Windsor, Missouri, along with four great-grandchildren; Rachelle Dawn Turner of Clinton, Missouri, Brenda Allen Hursh of Warrensburg, Missouri, Noah Ryan Turner of Windsor, Missouri, and Carson Wayne Hursh of Centerview, Missouri.

Grandpa will be missed greatly

Rich Hill Fire Department receives $500 donation from the Patriot Guard Riders

Last night the fire Rich Hill Fire Department received a $500 donation from the Patriot Guard Riders. This donation was made in memory of former firefighter Boots Hoover.

30 years of service to the city of Harrisonville

During Monday’s Board of Aldermen meeting, the Mayor recognized Art Carver for 30 years of service to the City of Harrisonville.

Art began working with the City in 1994 and currently works in our Parks Maintenance Department.

We are so grateful for the hard work and dedication Art has given to the City and to the Harrisonville community during his time here! 

He is a strong example of selfless service, and we look forward to his continued leadership here in Harrisonville.

9 year anniversary of the Butler Community Cafe

We would like to congratulate the Butler Community Cafe for serving the community for nine years. 

Make sure you join them tonight at the First Christian Church for a ham dinner at 5:30 p.m.

Bates County Fair Queen Candidate Reagan O'Farrell...

Reagan O’Farrell is the 17 year old daughter of Adam and Jamie O’Farrell from Appleton City, MO. This coming fall Reagan will start her senior year of high school at Appleton City. Reagan is a 5th generation 4-H member and a 4th generation FFA member, following in her family’s footsteps. Reagan has been exhibiting projects at the fair since she was 7 years old. 

Reagan is currently the President of Hudson Hustler 4-H club, President of the Appleton City FFA, and Vice President of the Bates County 4-H Council. Reagan is also involved in National Honors Society and the Bates County Livestock Judging Team. 

Reagan grew a passion for agriculture and livestock from a young age. She then began to travel the state attending numerous shows and fairs. Reagan loves the fair because it brings everyone together to see the projects that kids have spent the last year working on. Some of Reagans favorite memories are spending time in the barn with friends the night before a show. 

After Reagan finishes her senior year she hopes to attend Kansas State University to enter agriculture economics on a pre-law track.

Miccie Jane Hale age 68 of Peculiar, Missouri departed this life Friday, June 14, 2024 at her home in Peculiar, Missouri.

A combined service for Miccie and Steve Hale will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with internment at Palestine Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
