Obituary - Betty Lewis

Celebration of Life Services for Betty Lewis of Harrisonville, Missouri formerly of Butler, Missouri will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.

No Visitation. Her ashes, as well as the ashes of her beloved dog, Paco, will be interred at a later date.. Contributions to the Butler Public Library or Butler Food Pantry. Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Betty Ann Lewis was born on May 22, 1942, in Supulpa, Oklahoma, to Edward Abner Norton and Geraldine Reed. During her childhood, Betty and her family moved frequently to various places in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and, finally, Missouri, where she found and married the love of her life, Jack Wallace Lewis. Together, they raised four children.

Betty loved music, singing, and dancing. She also loved cutting out articles from magazines and saving them, trying every type of crafting and watching the Hallmark and Ion channels. She especially loved ordering from QVC and was teased about being the “QVC Queen.”

Throughout her life, Betty had several occupations. She sold Avon and Mary Kay Cosmetics, worked for a short time at Walmart and, for quite a long time, at Noe’s Optometry. She eventually became a bank teller at Community First Bank in Butler, from which she “retired” several times. Betty was involved in the Bates County Career Association, acted as the treasurer for the Bates County Industries, and was a member of the Red Hats Ladies.

Betty was devoted to her family. She and Jack attended every activity of their children and grandchildren’s they possibly could.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Jay.

Those left here on earth to mourn her loss are her husband, Jack Lewis; two sons, Rick (Sandy) Lewis and Leon Lewis; two daughters, Vicki (Dave) Tedesco and Robbin Garrett; and grandchildren, Geriann Boyd, Rob (Caitlin) Lewis, Len (Esha) Lewis, Shanna de Landsheer, Taylor (Samantha) Lewis, and Tessa (Anthony) James plus 6 great-grandchildren with one on the way, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Strong to severe storm possible this evening and tonight

This is a challenging forecast for this evening and overnight, with the potential for strong to severe storms. The area may remain capped, which would significantly reduce storm chances.

If storms develop this evening, a few could be severe, with damaging winds and large hail as the main hazards. With so many outdoor events this evening, any storm that develops will be hazardous due to lighting.

The most likely timing for storms across eastern KS and western MO is after seven this evening and then shifting east later in the night/ overnight.
