Cass County pursuit ends in Kansas City

This morning around 12:20 a.m., a deputy attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on I-49 just south of 155th St. in Belton for a traffic violation.

As the vehicle headed northbound on I-49, the deputy activated his emergency lights.

The driver was slow to respond but stopped. Once the deputy walked toward the vehicle, the driver took off at a high rate of speed.
The deputy immediately got back to his own vehicle and began pursuing the suspect.

As the pursuit ensued, the suspect drove northbound erratically.
The driver ended up fleeing his vehicle after coming to a stop near the playground area at Iser Park in Kansas City.

As the suspect fled on foot, the deputy noticed a firearm in his hand.

Several agencies, including the Grandview, MO Police Department, Kansas City Missouri Police Department, Raytown Police Department and ATF assisted — including K9 and aerial support.
But they were unable to locate the suspect. KCPD is investigating this incident.
