Life doesn’t come with a manual…thank goodness it comes with a Mother!
Our Mom Anna Mae “Ann” Hirschman was born in Festus, MO, to Lawrence and Catherine Grieshaber on February 13th, 1927 joining her sister, Aunt Betty, and later two brothers, Uncle Pete and Uncle Earl. She met our Dad, Paul, in Jefferson City and they were married on April 18th of 1948. They were blessed with six children – Randy, Cindy, Brenda, Tom, Kay, and Lana – and we were blessed to have them as our parents. What a wonderful childhood they gave us. So many happy memories from camping in our tent at Pomme de Terre Lake, camping in our converted school bus, to a cabin at Lake of the Ozarks.
Thirteen grandchildren joined the family, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren with a third to be born in August. Mom loved her Family so very much…each and every one.
Mom is survived by her children Randy (Patty) Hirschman, Brenda (Raymond) Shumaker, Tom (Jeannie) Hirschman, Kay (Larry) Stevens, and Lana (Larry) Hillier. She was preceded in death by our Dad in 2014, our sister Cindy in 2012, and her great-granddaughter Emily in 2008.
Mom once asked us if she was a good Mother. We said no…you were the Best! We love you Mom and we will miss you!

Of gaffes, goofs and blunders
In the upcoming issue of the News-Shopper (available tomorrow) we goofed the ‘Attention Candidates’ article on page 7 noting that we are giving all local political candidates a 500 word opportunity to sell themselves in an upcoming news feature free of charge.
We incorrectly mentioned that article will appear in the July 24th edition, however it will be in the July 31 issue (and online) in order for everyone to have time to make their submissions.
All candidates may email their up to 500 word essays to midshopper@gmail.com or drop it by 5 W. Dakota St. in Butler.
