Have you seen this missing woman from Pleasant Hill?

Good afternoon everyone. The Pleasant Hill Police Department is currently looking for a missing adult. She goes by Retta Young and she is 71 years of age. Last seen walking from the area of Rice and Lexington. 

She was wearing a tank top and shorts (unknown color of clothing), and glasses. Officers are canvassing the area currently to try and make contact and make sure she is ok.

Traffic stop in Osceola leads to drug arrest

On July 30, 2024, Officer Kauffman, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding and a lane violation in Osceola City Limits. Officer Kauffman observed the passenger shaking. Officer Kauffman observed the driver sweating along with signs of possible narcotic use. Chief Shumaker arrived on the scene to assist. 

Officer Kauffman and Chief Shumaker conducted a probable cause search of the driver, passenger, and vehicle. Officer Kauffman located methamphetamine on the driver and used syringes in the vehicle. 

Officer Kauffman and Chief Shumaker learned that the driver was on probation and parole for possession of a controlled substance and that the passenger had a non-extraditable warrant out of Greene County, Missouri. The driver was identified as Jesse Lawson out of Springfield, Missouri. 

A felony possession of a controlled substance will be sent to prosecuting attorney Daniel Dysart. The driver was also issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and will be sent to prosecuting attorney Joshua Jones.

Obituary - Braydon Dean Cannon

Braydon Dean Cannon, age 20, Hume, Missouri died Friday, August 2, 2024 as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Hume R-VIII School, Hume, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.

Out of control grass fire in rural Rich Hill

The Rich Hill Fire Department along with mutual aid from the Butler Fire Department are on scene of a grass fire that is said to be out of control on State Route PP near the address of 3211.

The fire is said to involve a couple of acres and there are no structures in danger at this time.

Obituary - Taylor Christine Bowman

Taylor Christine Bowman, age 31, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, completed her journey into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She was born November 13, 1992, in Ft. Scott, the daughter of Christopher Mark Bowman and Lana Lanette Hayden Bowman. 

Taylor graduated from the Ft. Scott High School and the Ft. Scott Community College. Taylor had worked both as a CNA and in the dietary department at area nursing homes. She was currently employed as a cashier at Dollar Tree in Pittsburg. 

Taylor had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her many houseplants. She also enjoyed collecting owls and diamond painting. Taylor loved to travel, having made her own way to her dream trip to Ireland and Great Britain at the age of sixteen. She attended the Community Christian Church.

Survivors include her parents, Christopher Bowman and Lana Bowman, both of Ft. Scott, and two sisters, Cari Hunziker (Doug) of Drexel, Missouri and Leslie Farris (Nathan) of Decatur, Michigan. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Raymond and Marjorie Hayden and Arthur “Tolle” and Doris Bowman.

A Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, August 8 at 1:30 pm at the Cheney Witt. A time of visitation to follow at the chapel. Taylor will be laid to rest next to her beloved grandparents at a later date during a private ceremony, in Centerville Cemetery in Devon, Kansas.

Obituary- John L. Wilson

John Lynn Wilson, 75, of Montrose, Missouri passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

John Lynn Wilson was born February 28, 1949 in
Clinton, Mo., the son of Clive Floyd Wilson and Nell (Burkhalter) Wilson. He grew up west of Clinton on the family farm where he continued to farm until his death.

He was a graduate of Clinton High School, class of 1967. He attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. On May 1, 1971 John married his wife of 53 years, Deborah Dulany Dehn.

John served in the Missouri Army National Guard, 1139th MPCo. Through the years he served on the Davis Township Road Board, Davis R-12 School Board, Farmers Elevator Board, and Hopewell Cemetery Board. John was a past Ag Person of the Year and was a member of the Clinton Elks Lodge, #1034. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton.

John liked to fabricate pieces and parts of his own machinery. He enjoyed standing by his fabricated wood stove in his barn. John was an avid reader and enjoyed watching a good western on TV. He enjoyed spending time on his boat at Stockton Lake, Sunday drives, a cold Bud Light, and peanut M&M’s were among his favorite things. An annual trip to the Kansas City farm show with his sons and friends was a special event for John. His sons can attest that Big John really liked and demanded a good clean windshield. John loved his sons and their families. His favorite saying was “watch out”.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Nell Wilson; sister, Janet Albright, Orlando, Florida; and brother, William B. Wilson, Clinton, Mo.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie; son, Wesley Dehn Wilson (Emily), son, William Robert Wilson (Sarah); grandchildren, Dawson Wilson, Linden Wilson, George Wilson and Scott Wilson; sister, Jewel Gay Lord; and brother, Robert N. Wilson.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church. A celebration will be at the Clinton Elks Lodge directly following the memorial service. Mr. Wilson will lie in state from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Private family burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Montrose, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Hopewell Cemetery or the Clinton Future Farmers of America, (FFA), Clinton, Mo., school farm project. These donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

Obituary - Nancy Nickell

Nancy Nickell, 81 of Drexel, Missouri passed away August 2, 2024 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. 

A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm Wednesday, also at the chapel. 

Burial will take place in Sharon Cemetery, Drexel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com
