Obituary - Robert Neil “Bob” Feller


Robert Neil “Bob” Feller, 74, Nevada, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Bob was born September 15, 1949 in Bronaugh, MO to Waldeen and Rosa Lee (Yost) Feller. He married Harriet June Daniels on November 20, 1971, in Nevada, MO and she survives of the home.

Bob was raised in Bronaugh and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1967. Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1971. He lived all of his adult life in Nevada, MO and worked at 3M Nevada for 30 years until his retirement. One of Bob’s favorite hobbies was woodworking. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Nevada.

In addition to his wife, Harriet, Bob is survived by 2 sons; Chris Feller (Michelle), Nashville, TN and their children, Padrick and Sydney, and Robbie Feller, Nevada, MO, and his children, Jade, Aiden, and Hunter Feller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldeen and Rosa Lee Feller; and his father- and mother-in-law, Delmer and Ida Lee Daniels.

Friends may call at Ferry Funeral Home until noon Monday, August 26, 2024. A private family burial will be held in the Ft. Scott National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, KS at 1:30p.m. on Monday, August 26. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Camper fire in rural Rich Hill

On Wednesday August 21st the Rich Hill Fire Department responded to a report of a camper fire at Harmony Mission southwest of Rich Hill.

The cause of this fire is currently under investigation at this time. Mid America Live News will update when more information is made available. 




Obituary - Freddie Leroy Gilkey

Freddie Leroy Gilkey, age 63, of Rich Hill, Missouri passed away of natural causes on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at his home. He was born on February 10, 1961 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri, the son of Bobby Ray Gilkey and Della Marie (Black) Gilkey.

Fred attended schools in Rich Hill, Hume, and Adrian. He had many talents, but his true calling was as a short-order cook. He was also a good plumber. Besides being known as a good plumber, Fred had the great ability to fix anything that needed fixing. He really enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with family and friends. Fred had a gift for caring for and loving elderly family and friends and people in the community.

Fred spent time in the Bible and loved God. He was a believer and hoped more people were. Fred also loved spending time and visiting his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Little people meant the world to him.

Fred was united in marriage to Georgia Karen Gilkey on February 28, 2013 in Nevada, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2022.

Survivors include a sister, Carol Fillpot of Grain Valley, Missouri; brothers, Joe and Peggy Gilkey of Nevada, Missouri and Dewey Gilkey of Greensburg, Kansas; step-daughter, Wendy and Brett Sadler; grandchildren, Nicholas and Tiffany Vernon, and Trevor Reese; great-grandchildren, Domanic, Alyvia, and Emma Vernon; and Tyce and Tate Reese; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and a couple of great-great-nieces and -nephews. All were greatly loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Ray Gilkey and Della (Black) Douglas; his wife, Georgia (McNeely) Gilkey; one brother, John Gilkey; one sister, Lavona Bradley; niece, Chealsey Gilkey, and great-niece Hannah RoseMarie Lamb.

Obituary - Dr. James Harms

James Fredric Harms, also known as Jim Harms and to the community as Dr. Harms, age of 86, of Nevada, MO, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Jim was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 5, 1937. He graduated from Salisbury High School in 1955 and went on to complete his Bachelor of Medicine undergraduate at the University of Missouri. Upon completing his undergraduate he went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Following his completion of medical school, he was drafted to the United States Army as a physician at Fort Benning in Georgia. Following his discharge from the military, he then went on to complete his residency at St. Louis County Hospital.

Dr. James Fredric Harms worked as a General Surgeon for 39 years in Nevada, MO and surrounding communities until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed golfing, boating on the lake, water skiing, snow skiing, and spending time with his family. He was also actively involved in the choir at the First Baptist Church of Nevada for many years.

Dr. James Fredric Harms is survived by his son James David Harms and his fiancé Celia Kreiensieck and his daughter Danielle Marie Long and husband Drew Long. His grandson Logan Blake Harms and his wife Brittany Harms and his granddaughter Madison Leigh Harper, and his 4 great grandchildren; Carsyn (10 years), Cohen (9 years), Rhett (3 years), and Rylan (12 years). Additional family members; stepdaughter, Leslie Woods-Hernandez and her children Lily and Adrian, step-grandson Matt DeBoutez and wife Abby; a brother, John Harms and sister, Janet Monell.

Dr. James Fredric Harms is preceded in death by his parents Florian Louis Harms and Marie Amelia Hederich, his first wife Linda Kay Harms and his late wives Carolyn Harms & Mary Harms, and his daughter Lori Harms.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
