State Farm Athlete of the week Jake Chandler

We are pleased to announce the first State Farm Athlete of the week for the 24-25 school year, Jake Chandler. Jake is a junior at Butler High School and he participates in football, basketball, baseball and track. He was nominated by Head Coach Gregg Webb after Butler’s first game vs North Platte.

Jake had a phenomenal game. He ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown, had 2 interceptions, 2 other receiving touchdowns, and 5 tackles all in a quarter and a half as he had to leave the game due to injury.

When we asked Jake to tell us something he thought he has learned from playing high school sports that he could apply later in life he stated, “you learn to work with others and become a leader.

You have to learn good communication skills which can help you later in life.” When we asked him what the most difficult part of being a student athlete is he stated, “keeping your mind right and getting good grades while learning to work with others and helping your teammates get better”. We then asked him what he feels it takes to become an elite athlete.

He stated “you have to go 100% at all times. And you have to put in extra work on your own outside of practice. It takes putting in the extra work when others don’t”. Jake’s future plans include going to college where he hopes to continue his football career and possibly major in sports management.
