Mildred Mizner, age 86, passed on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Medicalodge of Butler, Missouri. Memorial services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Butler, Missouri. Arrangements entrusted to Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). Memorial contributions may be made to Butler Senior Center or the Bates County Community Food Pantry. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.
Mildred Rebecca Mizner was born August 8, 1938 to Rodney Spaulding Mizner and Virginia Florence Palm-Eckert Mizner.
In the loving words of her mother, Virgina, whom she cared for many years:
Mildred attended elementary school in a one-room school, Concord, and graduated from Miami R-1 High School in 1956. Two weeks after high school graduation, she began working for Hallmark in Kansas City and continued as a dedicated employee for 37 1/2 years. She was sent to train other workers in Carrolton, Missouri.
Mildred’s soft voice and kind ways won her many friends of all ages. To older people, she was always respectful, caring and patient. She enjoyed entering into games and going on little shopping sprees with younger family members and friends. She truly thought of other people before herself. She enjoyed sports, especially baseball and basketball. She was always a neat housekeeper, but her greatest joy was working outdoors.
As a young girl, she became a Christian and was baptized at Vacation Bible School. For most of her life, she attended the Butler Assembly of God Church. Upon Virginia’s passing, the family home was purchased by Immanuel Baptist Church of Butler, where prayer group meetings are now held.
Mildred is survived by her nephew and nieces, Randi Mizner, Staci Mizner Smith and Shani Mizner Kroll, her Uncle J.L. Eckert and wife, Kathleen, of Butler, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Virgil Norman Mizner, and her nephew, Robbi Lee Mizner.

Alignment Alert issued...
Deep inside this innocent looking puddle on the southeast corner of the Fort Scott and Business I-49 intersection in Butler is an inches-deep-rim-bending-tire-blowing crater that has brought frustration to many drivers as of late.
Mid America Live spoke to the city of Butler who noted that the repair is responsibility of MoDot and they have been notified of the issue; it should be fixed soon.
Eagles season continues after District win
The Eagles came out hot, as they were able to drop 15 points in the first while limiting the Hornets to just 8 points. Hume was able to hold Miami to only 11 in the next quarter, while scoring 10 of their own. At halftime the Eagles would posses a 26-18 lead.
Out of the break, Miami would dominate the 3rd period, outscoring the Hornets 19-4. In the fourth period, Hume was finally ably to score the basketball efficiently, however it was too little, too late, and Miami would walk away with a 62-41 win and keep their season alive!
The Eagles were led in scoring by Kaleb Nelson who ended the night with 15 points, while Wayde Cameron had 14.
Levi Scott of Hume led all scores with a total of 18 points.
The Eagles next game will be Wednesday at 7pm against Sheldon. Sheldon came in as the 7 seed and upset the 2 seed, Montrose to advance to the second round.
