10 Tips to Spring Clean Your Fitness Routine

Now is the perfect time to breathe new life into your workouts to keep moving forward.

Spring is the perfect time to shake things up and refresh your fitness routine. Just like you tidy your home when the seasons change, your workout habits can benefit from a little sprucing up too!

Here are some simple yet effective tips to help you spring clean your fitness routine and reignite your motivation:

  1. Reassess your goals. Take a moment to reflect on your fitness goals. Are you trying to build strength, improve endurance or simply stay active? Goals can evolve over time, so make sure yours align with what you truly want. Write them down and make them specific, like running a 5K or mastering 10 push-ups.
  2. Declutter your gear. Check your workout gear and equipment. Do your shoes have enough support, or are they worn out? Is your yoga mat still in good shape? Toss out old or damaged items and treat yourself to replacements if needed. Having the right gear can make all the difference in your performance and safety.
  3. Try something new. Spring is a great time to explore new activities. If your usual routine feels stale, switch things up! Try a dance class, join a hiking group or experiment with strength training. New experiences can challenge your body in different ways and keep exercise exciting.
  4. Take it outside. Warmer weather and longer days make spring the perfect season to exercise outdoors. Go for a jog in the park, try outdoor yoga or ride your bike around the neighborhood. Fresh air and sunshine can boost your mood and energy levels.
  5. Find a workout buddy. Working out with a friend can make exercise more fun and keep you accountable. Whether you meet at the gym, go for a run or take a class together, having a buddy makes it easier to stick to your routine.
  6. Refresh your playlist. Music can be a powerful motivator. Create a new workout playlist filled with upbeat tunes that inspire you to move. Studies show that listening to music while exercising can improve performance and make workouts feel easier.
  7. Schedule your workouts. If your fitness routine has been inconsistent, get back on track by scheduling your workouts like appointments. Choose times that work best for you and stick to them. Treat your workouts as non-negotiable to build a lasting habit.
  8. Add functional movements. Incorporating functional movements—like squats, lunges and planks—into your routine can improve your strength and coordination for everyday tasks. These exercises mimic real-life movements and help prevent injuries.
  9. Focus on recovery. Recovery is just as important as the workouts themselves. Incorporate stretching, foam rolling or yoga into your routine to keep your muscles happy and reduce the risk of injury. Don’t forget to stay hydrated and prioritize sleep too.
  10. Track your progress. Keep track of your workouts to stay motivated and see how far you’ve come. Use a fitness app, journal or calendar to record your activities and celebrate small victories along the way.

Spring cleaning your fitness routine doesn’t have to be complicated. By refreshing your goals, gear and habits, you can set yourself up for a healthier and more enjoyable season.

Obituary - Anthony Angelo Juarez III

Anthony Angelo Juarez III was born on July 12, 1992. He grew up in Louisburg, KS. Anthony was prone to dreaming big and always wanted to be a cowboy. At an early age, he began singing on stage with his father Tony Juarez. Anthony picked up the guitar and quickly mastered the instrument. He loved sports and was truly the biggest Chiefs and Royals fan. He played soccer and baseball growing up and graduated from Louisburg High School in 2010. He met and quickly fell in love with Devin Juarez (Weers). Anthony and Devin were married on June 7, 2014 and were blessed with four children. There was nothing Anthony wouldn't do for Devin, and he loved his family more than words can adequately express. At the time of his passing, he assisted his mother, Susan Waggerman, in operating Agape's Grace by providing care to adults with special needs. His role with the company was not one that can be defined. When a job needed done, Anthony did it. He was there for all the individuals in the company's care and for the staff.

One of his greatest joys was coaching his children’s sports teams. He volunteered as a head coach for every LRC soccer team, baseball team and football team his boys were on, sometimes coaching 6 teams at a time during overlapping seasons. In his very little free time, Anthony attended fire meetings and volunteered with the Drexel Fire Department. He took such pride in his role at the department. Anthony spent 9 years serving the Drexel community. Every single person on the department, he considered his family. His whole life was about helping people. In every aspect of his life, Anthony was always the one running into the “fire” to save and protect others.

He also started his own music career and was the lead singer and founder of 68 Overpass. From growing up playing guitar with his Grandpa Bill to recording albums and performing benefit concerts, Anthony’s heart and soul really shined through his music. His love of music was second only to the love he had for his family. Anthony is survived by his wife Devin Juarez, his children Anthony Juarez IV, Justin Juarez, Eli Juarez, and Raelynn Juarez, his mother Susan Waggerman, his father Anthony Juarez Jr. (Cathie Juarez), his sister Rebekah Juarez (Colton Burk), his brother Isaac Juarez (Leslie Melendez), his brother Noah Juarez (Kathryn Juarez), his nephew Isaac Juarez Jr, his niece Myla Juarez, his grandmother Lupe Juarez and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Lela Waggerman, his grandfather Anthony Juarez Sr. and his uncle Ray Waggerman.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Louisburg High School Gymnasium, 202 Aquatic Drive, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Private burial will be held at the Louisburg Cemetery.

A community in mourning: From the Drexel Mo Fire Department

On behalf of Chief Booker and the members of the Drexel Fire Department, we first want to send our love and prayers to the family of Firefighter Anthony Juarez.

We've always said we live in one of the best communities in the world. Now we know it's the absolute best in the world!
We can't thank you enough to our citizens and to everyone far and wide who have reached out to our Department as a whole, making sure we're all okay, and for all the prayers and positive thoughts! It truly means the world to us!!
Hero Juarez wasn't just a member of the Drexel Fire Department but our Brother! We all have spent countless hours over the past 9 years working beside him, all while trying to keep our community safe.
Hero Juarez was dedicated to our Fire service family, but his personal family took priority, as it should. His love for his wife Devin and their children Anthony, Justin, Eli, and Raelynn was unwavering. He couldn't have been more proud of them!
Our hearts are truly broken over the passing of Hero Juarez, but we have some peace knowing he'll be watching over us as we continue to run calls.
We ask that you keep the Juarez family as a whole and our Department in your positive thoughts and prayers as we navigate life without Hero Juarez at our side.
Hero Juarez, we'll forever miss you! Thank you for the positive light you brought us! Thank you for allowing us to become part of your family, but most of all, thank you for being you! Loving and Kind!!
Rest in Peace, Brother; we have it from here!! God Speed, Hero!!
Visitation and Funeral Service will be announced as soon as possible.
