Obituary - John David Miller

Celebration of Life Service for John David Miller of Butler, Missouri will be 3 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler.  Visitation will be prior to service 2 - 3 p.m. at the Schowengerdt Chapel.  Wear your favorite flannel or Chiefs attire.  Contributions to Giving Fore Living or Butler Food Pantry.  Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

John David “Dave” Miller, age 72 of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, June 1, 2025 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.  He was born November 14, 1952 to Paul Vernon and Alva Marie Simmons Miller in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Dave is survived by four daughters, Renee Sargent and husband Lance of Butler, Missouri, Mandi Miller of Harrisonville, Missouri, Jessica Kirk and husband Cory of Butler, Missouri and Andrea Miller of Amoret, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Breann Thompson and husband Jacob, Baustin Sargent and fiancĂ© Cheyene, Brooklyn Sargent, Ciara Miller, Taylor Kirk, Bella Kirk, Carter Kirk and Alexander Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Juliann Thompson, Jett Thompson and Ellie Sargent.  Dave was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Miller, Dickie Miller and infant brother, Dennis Miller; two sisters, Paula Jackson and Linda Long; and one nephew, Jeff Jackson.

Obituary - Francis Joseph John Thibeault Sr.

On June 1st, 2025, Francis passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loving family. He was 94 years old and had been battling many types of cancer for many years. 

Francis was born on February 2, 1931, in Attawaugan, CT, to Joseph and Eva Thibeault. He was a strong, disciplined man who served six years in the Army and thirteen years in the Marines. He was a rifle marksman who served in the Korean War and received numerous medals and commendations. He was a lifelong member of the 3118 VFW Post in Pleasant Hill, MO. It was his honor to serve on the Honor Guard detail, cook Saturday morning community breakfasts, and participate in other VFW activities. 

Francis was a devout Catholic. He moved to Garden City, MO, from CT when his place of employment, Percel's Printing Shop, closed its doors for good and he took early retirement. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lily M. Thibeault, his parents, and his four siblings. He leaves behind sons Francis Thibeault Jr. and his partner, of Warrensburg, MO; William and Tammy Thibeault of Pleasant Hill, MO; daughters Sheila Lucente of Chattanooga, TN; and Helen and Steven Gray of Putnam, CT. He had thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. 

He enjoyed his daily walks around town, making friends along the way. He will be missed dearly.

Funeral services will be posted once that information becomes available.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and sent in care to Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.

Route TT bridge closed for repair


 Route TT bridge over Bones Branch CLOSED between County Road 3701 and County Road 2001 west of Butler until further notice. MoDOT crews working to repair bridge deck/driving surface.
