Saturday will be a cold, soaking rain event for most of eastern Kansas and western Missouri.
Transition to snow, heavy at times, in north central and north east Missouri.
6+ inches of snow possible in NE Missouri.
Monday, another all-snow system spread bands of snow SW to NE across KS and Missouri, adding roughly another 1" of snow from central/south central KS through NE Missouri.

November has been a really great and productive month here at the Community Food Pantry of Butler! Over our 8 open days this month, we handed out 448 Thanksgiving meals that included the items pictured below: turkey, stuffing, pie crust and filling, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, and the ingredients for green bean casserole. We are so thankful to all our donors and supporters along with all our volunteers and staff for making this possible! You all are awesome! Happy Thanksgiving, Bates County!

Obituary - AJ Hildreth

AJ Hildreth, age 32, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, surrounded by his family. 

Visitation will be held from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, Monday, December 1, 2025, at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Louisburg Chapel, 1 Aquatic Drive, Louisburg, Kansas 66053.

Obituary - Randal Lloyd "Randy" Bresee

Randal Lloyd "Randy" Bresee, age 62, Blue Mound, Kansas passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He was born on December 22, 1962 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Carl and Ruth Doan Bresee. He served his country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Katherine "Kate" Tinsley on September 17, 1994. Randy was a plumber by trade. He enjoyed riding horses, shooting pool, and Chiefs football. He was a member of the American Legion in Blue Mound. He was preceded in death by his parents, and several siblings. Randy is survived by his wife, Kate, and four children, Melissa Cowen, Brandy Bresee, Gini Bresee, and Dennis Bresee, a brother, Mark Bresee, two sisters, Sherri Sanders, and Hattie Miller, and ten grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 pm, Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City Chapel. Funeral service and military honors will be held at 6:30 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family of Randy Bresee.

Glen D. Johnson, age 67, of Rich Hill, Missouri, passed away November 22, 2025. A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Missouri.

Obituary - Evangelina Hubbard

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Evangelina Hubbard, who left this world on her birthday, Monday, November 24, 2025. Born in Overland Park, Kansas, on the same date in 2025, Evangelina's life was a brief yet precious journey that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Though her time on earth was short, the love that Evangelina brought into this world will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love of family.

Evangelina is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Sergio Ledesma, Sr. She is survived by her father, Jacob Hubbard; her mother, Sofia Ledesma; and her brothers, Maverick and Case Hubbard, who will carry her memory forward in their hearts. Her family also includes her beloved paternal grandparents: Dave Hubbard of Adrian, MO; and Kim Gilmore of Windsor, MO; and maternal grandmother, Dawn Huffman, of Adrian, MO; her paternal great-grandmother, Peggy Spackler, of Montrose, MO; her maternal great-grandparents, Ron and Jody Smallwood, of Adrian, MO; and other relatives and friends. The warmth of her family's love will continue to shine bright in her absence.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Evangelina will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions can be made to the Evangelina Hubbard Memorial Fund through the Adrian Bank in Adrian, MO.

Obituary - Dorothy Faye Bybee

Dorothy Faye Bybee, 87, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Dorothy was born on May 4, 1938, one of five children to Carl and Lela (Ruddell) Blaser. On June 29, 1958 she married John Paul Bybee, and together they shared 55 years of marriage.

A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Dorothy dedicated her life to raising her four children. After her children were raised, she enjoyed babysitting and cherished the time nurturing and caring for children. She also had a passion for antiques and enjoyed collecting and appreciating the pieces she found. Dorothy will be remembered for her sense of humor and the deep love she held for her family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Paul Bybee; one brother; and one sister. She is survived by three sons: Phillip Bybee and wife, Phuong, of Irvine, CA; Mark Bybee and wife, Kris, of Pleasant Hill, MO; and Stephen Bybee and wife, Paula, of Lee's Summit, MO; one daughter, Elisa (Bybee) Grevatt, and husband, Doug, of Norwalk, CT; two sisters: Sandy Clifton and husband, Danny, Drexel, MO; Betty Fink, Amsterdam, MO; and five grandchildren: Molly Bybee of Philadelphia, PA; Doug Bybee of Kansas City, MO; Alexandria Bybee of Scottsdale, AZ; Michaela Bybee of Tacoma, WA; and Andrew Woolery and wife, Beth, of Elizabeth, ME.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026 at Downey Carriage House in Adrian, MO, at 1:00pm. Inurnment will take place at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO, during a private family ceremony.
