Multiple search warrants issued, several arrests made in special operation

Operation Targeted Pressure
Phase One & Two Results
Over the Thanksgiving holiday week, the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office conducted a multi-phase enforcement initiative known as Operation Targeted Pressure, targeting narcotics activity, wanted fugitives, and non-compliant offenders throughout Cedar County.
Phase One Narcotics Search Warrants
During Phase One, three narcotics search warrants were served. Two warrants were executed simultaneously.
• Search Warrant #1:
Served by the Bates County SRT Team, assisted by members of the Midwest Missouri Career Criminal & Drug Task Force (MMCCDTF) and the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office.
• Search Warrant #2:
Served by the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office SRT Team, assisted by members of MMCCDTF and COMET Drug Task Force.
• Search Warrant #3:
A third narcotics warrant was later served by the Bates County SRT Team, assisted by members of MMCCDTF and the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office.
At all three locations, narcotics and related items were located, seized as evidence, and multiple subjects were arrested and transported to the Cedar County Jail for processing.
Issued Charges
On 11/25/2025, the Honorable Judge Jacob Dawson issued the following arrest warrants:
• Colton Kain Austin
o RSMo 579.015 – Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony)
o Bond: $75,000 Cash
• Jessica Ann Haslock
o RSMo 579.015 – Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony)
o Bond: $25,000 Cash
• Donna Lynn Pitts
o RSMo 579.015 – Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony)
o Bond: $25,000 Cash
Phase Two Wanted Subjects & Compliance Enforcement
Following the narcotics operations, deputies began Phase Two, serving two additional search warrants for individuals with outstanding felony warrants.
• Arrest of Adam Gregg:
Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence where Gregg was hiding.
He was taken into custody on three active warrants and transported to the Cedar County Jail.
• Attempted Arrest of Non-Compliant Sex Offender:
A second search warrant was executed to locate a non-compliant sex offender with a felony warrant. Deputies learned the subject may have fled the area prior to the operation.

Accident on TT highway

 Authorities are reporting a trash truck tipped over on its side on TT  highway about 3 1/2 miles west of business 49 in Bates County. The road is partially blocked, you might find an alternate route. A tow company has been called to clear the scene.

Time revision regarding festivities in Adrian today

With the weather forecast saying the rain will be moving out around noon. We will start the Whistle Blow event a couple hours later. We will start at 12:30 instead of 10 to avoid some of the weather. Thank you for your understanding.

Otherwise, forecasters are saying that rain will move out of the area by early afternoon- as of now the parade and Hot Chocolate Night will be held as planned, but bundle up!

Obituary - Roberta Staton

Roberta May Staton, age 100, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025.  She was born on April 23, 1925 in Hartford, Michigan the daughter of Orlie and Emma Roberts Brown.  Roberta was united in marriage to Eugene Staton on November 11, 1944.  He preceded her in death on June 28, 1993.  She was a member of the Pleasanton Christian Church, Order of Eastern Star, P.E.O., and Daughter's of the Nile.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kenneth Brown, two sisters, Doris Morton, ad Lois Cjuhjewsky, and two grandsons, Todd and Branden.  Roberta is survived by three sons, James Staton and wife Anna, Dale Staton and wife, Carol, and Raymond Staton, five grandchildren, Joy, Melissa, Eric, Amy and Amber, and fifteen great grandchildren.  

Funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton Chapel.  Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 pm to service time at the Chapel.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Vintage Park or Ascend Hospice.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.  

Obituary - Alice Jennings

Funeral services for Alice Mae Jennings of Butler, Missouri will be 10 a.m. December 6, 2025 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler.  Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. December 5 at the Schowengerdt Chapel.  Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler.  Contributions to Heartland Hospice or  Bates County Museum.  Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Alice Mae Jennings, age 99 of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, November 23, 2025 at her home.  She was born December 28, 1925 to Arthur C. and Molly Yancy Jennings in Maysville, Missouri.

Alice is survived by one brother, Wilbur Jennings and wife Jo Ann of Butler, Missouri; eight nieces and nephews, Cheryl Harris (David), Terri Winston, Bob Jennings (Linda), Linda Schowengerdt (Ron), Nancy Jennings, Kent Jennings (Christy), Dana Arnold (Jim) and David Jennings (Cindy); 11 great-nephews and nieces; 17 great-great nephews and nieces with one more on the way; and caregivers, Jolene, Bonnie, Marna, Pauline, Karen, Natalie and Ashley.  Alice was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George, Orville and Harold; and one great-niece, Brandee and one great-great-niece, Bailey Bickleman

Drexel Hometown Christmas set for December 13

 


Please join us for Drexel's Hometown Christmas, Saturday, December 13th. The parade starts at 4:30, and the merchant drawing will start around 5:30. Bring an ornament for the Mayor's Christmas Tree and your Christmas list for Santa.

Route 52 to be closed at Amoret beginning Dec. 2nd

As indicated by signs placed near Amoret, route 52 highway will be closed beginning December 2nd for an unknown period of time. While no further information is available on the MoDot or CPKC railroad websites, it is being assumed that the closure will be related to ongoing work at the railroad crossing at Amoret.
