Update regarding possibility of severe weather on Thursday evening

The 2/5 Slight risk has shifted to be a mostly Kansas thing for Thursday night.
Discrete cells / possible supercells may form Thursday afternoon but should be significantly west of our area.
As they progress into eastern KS and western MO, they could form more linear segments, so:
Large hail and damaging winds should become the predominant threat with time.

Resources availabe for aging Missourians

Missouri is aging and the data confirms what many communities are already experiencing.
St. Louis County has the highest total population of residents age 65 and older, with 190,319 older adults, while Worth County has the fewest, with 510 older adults.
Fifty-four counties in Missouri now have populations where at least 20 percent of residents are age 65 or older. Hickory County ranks highest, with 32.35 percent of residents age 65+, while Pulaski County has the lowest share at 9.65 percent.
MU Extension works statewide to support healthy aging through education and community-based programs that help older adults stay active, connected and independent. From strength training and cognitive health to caregiver support and chronic disease management, our work meets Missourians where they are, whether in rural towns or urban centers.
As Missouri’s population continues to age, MU Extension remains committed to honoring older adults and partnering with communities to support quality of life at every stage.

This Saturday (April 25th, 2026) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Harrisonville Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
Bring medications for disposal to CVS at 300 S Commercial St. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
For everyone's safety, please remember that the following cannot be accepted:
- Needles (including insulin and allergy pens)
- Sharp Objects
- Liquids and lotions
- Inhalers
- Aerosol Cans
To dispose of liquid medications, mix with cat litter and throw away.
To dispose of sharps, place them in a laundry detergent bottle, tape the lid closed, and mark "sharps" on the outside.
These restrictions help to maintain a safe environment for both the public and our employees. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe!
