Metz depot set for permanent footing at Frontier Village
Crews have been working non-stop at Frontier Village in preparation for setting the former Metz depot on a permanent foundation. Next, the building will be moved a few yards then work will continue to bring one of the last train depots in the area to its former glory.
Lack of volunteers leads to cancellation of Adrian Fall Festival
The Adrian Chamber of Commerce would like to take a moment and be honest & transparent about the fall festival not happening. We appreciate how much everyone loves the Fall festival every year. Unfortunately, this year we just have not been able to get the volunteers needed to make this happen. Rather than putting the responsibility onto just a couple people to pull this together, we felt it would be best to take a year off.
We know this event means a lot to everyone and we are truly disappointed that we will not be hosting this event but the decision was made to form a committee after the first of the year and bring people together with some fresh ideas and enough volunteers to make the festival next year the best one yet!
To anyone that has helped in the past, we truly appreciate all you have done to make this event special! Adrian is an amazing community! Thank you for understanding and please look forward to being a part of it for next year since this is such a large community event and requires many to organize and make it happen!

Carissa Stong wins Sweepstakes award at Missouri State Fair
Congratulations to Carissa Stong for winning the Sweepstakes Award at the Missouri State Fair Carcass Lamb Show
The sweepstakes winner is determined by a cumulative point system based on carcass merit; Carissa had 3 lambs, with 2 of them scoring in the top 20 of the nearly 100 carcass lambs entered. By winning this award, Carissa earned $500 for the Nevada FFA chapter and a nice cash prize for herself, courtesy of the Missouri Soybean Association. Carissa is pictured with Missouri Secretary of Agriculture, Chris Chinn.

A friendly reminder from the Vernon County Sheriff's Office
We would like to take a moment to remind everyone to wear your seatbelts and drive with care.
Over the last couple of weeks, our firefighters and emergency responders have seen a significant uptick in vehicle accidents. We have responded to multiple rollovers—including two involving ejections that resulted in fatalities—as well as wrecks caused by inattentive driving. Recently, a deputy’s vehicle was struck while working an accident scene, and on August 19th, crews spent an hour extricating an individual from a crash.
Whether caused by impairment, distraction, or speed, many of these incidents could have been prevented. Please wear your seatbelt, stay attentive, and drive responsibly.
