Congratulations to Matt Desbien, Respiratory is June 2021 Ellett Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month! Some of the ways Matt shows his HEART is: operating the department with a smooth process. His background knowledge about department equipment and supplies make his input valuable. He knows what is available for our patients.

His work is dependable and input for all procedures is done correctly. Matt is a team player, reliable, on time and doesn't miss shifts. He goes above and beyond for his patients to make his patient's experience a good one.

Matt has a great sense of humor and always has a smile for everyone. We are lucky to have Matt as a coworker! Congrats Again Matt!

Obituary - Arthur "Dan" James Danforth

Arthur James "Dan" Danforth was born on January, 5, 1932 to Mary Wilma (Burt) Danforth and Ned Danforth. He was raised on his grandparent's farm near Mt. Zion, Missouri, graduating from Deepwater High School in 1949. After graduation, Dan moved to the Kansas City area, where he later met and married Georgia Pemberton. To this union, two daughters, Deborah Leigh and Diane Lyn, were born. 

He drove trucks for a living, and retired from Jack Cooper Transport in 1990, and in 1995 he relocated to Clinton, Missouri, where he lived with his brother and sister-in-law. He lived with his brother until he met, and later married, Janet Honn Smith on June 29, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, sister-in-law and 3 nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, daughters; Debbie (Gary) and Lynn, 2 granddaughters, 3 great-grandchildren, and 5 nieces. He is also survived by Janet's 3 sons; Jason (Nicole), Bryan (Jessica), and Keven (Ashley) and her 15 grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri and are pending at this time.


Obituary - Trudy Ann Snead

Trudy Ann Snead, 54 of Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Nevada Regional Medical Center. Trudy was born on May 3, 1967, in Ft. Scott, KS to Michael O’Marrah and Helen Virginia (Morrison). She married Gene R. Snead on September 20, 1987 in Nevada, MO and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2015.

Trudy came to Nevada from North Dakota and graduated in 1985 from Nevada High School. She later received an associate degree from the Crowder College, Nevada, MO. Trudy worked for Key work clothes in Nevada, was a para for the Nevada R-5 School District, and also for Butler-Davidson Counseling in Nevada. She most recently had been working for the Career Center in Nevada. Trudy enjoyed cooking, camping with her family and friends, and loved 80’s music.

Survivors include four children, Tina O’Banion, Springfield, MO, Bethany Snead, Springfield, MO, Tim Snead (Elysiah), Nevada, MO, Chelsea Ogburn (Jackson), Nevada, MO; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous brothers and sisters. In addition to her husband Gene, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Roger Todd officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Family in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.


Burglary in Appleton City

On July 27th, a St. Clair County deputy responded to Beech Street, in Appleton City, in reference to a burglary. 

Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with the victim whom reported that on July 25th, it was discovered that the victim's garage door had been picked open. Further investigation showed that the victim was missing a money bag containing $6,500.00 in cash.

Nevada Police Department Incident Spotlight:

The last couple of days have been busy for Nevada Police officers!

Officers investigated a felony assault over the weekend. On Tuesday the court issued warrants for two subjects. Officers were able to locate both subjects and take them into custody.

While officers were investigating a theft they were able to locate the suspect who had felony warrants. Officers were able to return the stolen property and take the subject into custody.

Officers obtained information about a wanted subject staying at a local motel. Officers were able to locate that subject and take them into custody on the outstanding felony warrant.

While investigating another stealing case officers located the suspect. When officers tried to make contact the subject fled on foot. Officers were able to successfully apprehend the subject. 
During the investigation it was discovered the subject was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Officers were investigating a suspicious person. During the investigation officers located suspected illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Great work to all the officers involved for being proactive!
