Obituary - Terry Kent Smith

Terry Kent Smith, age 61, of Warsaw, Missouri passed away June 23, 2023, at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

A Celebration of Terry’s life will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Morningview Activity Center 706 S. Sunrise Dr., Raymore, MO 64083.

Terry was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 1, 1961, the son of Tim and Nina (Evans) Smith. In life, Terry worked as a Pipefitter in Local Union #533 in Kansas City for many years. He loved spending his spare time fishing, playing the piano and guitar, and flying radio-controlled airplanes. He also had a love for cooking BBQ. But most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his loving mother, Nina Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Connie Smith; five children, Amanda York (Keith), Lisa Foote, Cristie Smith, Terry Colton (Michelle), and Scott Smith; father, Tim Smith; seven grandchildren, Chad Myers, Gabriel Smith, Athan Smith, Estrella Smith, Rayden Smith, Reina Smith, and Nicolas Smith.

Dangerous heat Wednesday and Thursday

Near normal temps in the mid 80s to lower 90s are expected today. Tonight into Wednesday morning, there will be a chance for storms south of I-70 however severe weather is not expected. 

Heat will then build into the area on Wed and Thu with heat index values between 98 to 106.


Rich Hill woman injured in ATV accident

On Monday June 26th around 7:58 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a ATV accident on DD Highway at CR 4508.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the eastbound 2015 Honda ATV driven by 47 year old Michelle S. Laughlin of Rich Hill, Missouri traveled off the roadway, when the ATV returned to the roadway it overturned.

Michelle S. Laughlin sustained moderate injuries and she was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital for treatment.

Funeral services for Evelyn Jennings of Butler, Missouri will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2023 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.

Evelyn Irene Jennings, age 96 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Butler Center. She was born January 20, 1927 to Roy Bernard and Ada Elizabeth Fields Cone in St. Clair County, Missouri

Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Shirley Heckadon and husband Don of Butler, Missouri; a granddaughter, Michelle Triebel of Butler, Missouri; grandson-in-law, Lester Algiere of Butler, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Throne and husband Ben of Prescott, Arizona; and two brothers-in-law, Lorenz Endress of Wichita, Kansas and Kenneth Garrison of Osceola, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Jennings; a granddaughter, Kimberly Algiere; a brother, Bernard Cone; and three sisters, Lela May Endress, Kathleen Cone and Janet Garrison.

Jeremy Micheal Curtman age 45 of Oak Grove, Missouri deaprted this life Sunday, June 25,2023.

Cremation with a Celebration of Life Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Breakfast at the Fair Hosted by State Representative Dane Diehl

125th State representative Dane Diehl will host an early morning breakfast on Wednesday, July 12th from 7:30 until 8:30 am. Serving will be under the Bates County Fairgrounds Bingo Pavilion.

Obituary - Douglas Marion Pryor

Douglas Marion Pryor, 61, of Nevada, MO, passed away on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Doug was born on May 6th, 1962 in Nevada to James and Beverly (Crump) Pryor.

Doug was raised in Nevada. He later moved to Kansas City where he married Mary Sanders. They moved to Columbia, MO. He resided in Columbia for several years until he moved to Joplin, MO to help care for his brother. He recently moved back to Nevada to be closer to family and has been living here for a couple of years. Doug enjoyed playing pool, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and enjoyed being around friends and family, especially his young great nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife and best friend Mary of Fayette, MO; stepson, Jaycob Riley of Columbia; stepdaughter, Amber Kahn and her four children (his grandchildren), Maddie, Molly, Elina, and Lexie; one brother, James Pryor (Becky) of Nevada; one sister, Susie Pritchett (Randy) of Nevada; a sister-in-law, Cathy Moore-Pryor of Nevada; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Steven, Tracy, and Greg; and an infant sister, Karen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ferry Funeral Home to help with funeral costs.

Brenda L. Mills age 61 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Golden Years, Harrisonville, Missouri.
