Zion Lutheran Church and School of Prairie City will host the Annual German fest on October 21st

The Zion Lutheran Church and School of Prairie City will host the Annual German fest on October 21st.

The meal will be served on Saturday, October 21st from 4 until 8 pm.

The public is invited to attend this year’s Germanfest where the meal will consist of traditional German food. Your free will donation will be appreciated with proceeds from the meal supporting a Local Charity.

Remember that “ B” highway to Rockville is still under construction and closed to traffic at this time. They suggest taking 52 West to “O” highway and then go south to Prairie City.

Osceola man seriously injured in St. Clair County crash

On Wednesday September 27th around 5:09 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle accident on on Route H at Route B around 5 miles north of Taberville, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a eastbound 1993 Ford Tempo driven by 32 year old Johnathon W. Crenshaw traveled into the path at an intersection and was struck by a 2015 Dodge Ram Postmaster driven by 34 year old Alexander Kennedy of Appleton City, Missouri.

Johnathon W. Crenshaw sustained serious injuries and he was transported by Life Flight to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri for treatment.

Obituary - Raymond H. Heuser

Raymond H. Heuser, 76, of Harrisonville, MO, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at his home in Harrisonville. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.

Ray was born February 27, 1947 in Butler, Missouri, a son of Raymond Harold “Bud” and Norma Louise (Wilburn) Heuser. He spent his early years in the Harrisonville area and was a 1965 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Ray attended Ozark Bible College in Joplin, MO, were he met his future wife, Elizabeth Guillory. They were married December 17, 1966 in Joplin, MO. After Ray received his Bachelor’s degree, he began a career working and traveling for tractor company’s, Farmall, Case, and John Deere.

Ray has served on the Board of Directors for Osage Valley Electric Company for 12 years, and has always been active in the community. He and Liz were regulars at all the car shows with their 1956 Chevy. He owned and operated Ray Rae’s Rib Shack, north of Harrisonville on 291 Highway for 17 years.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Norma. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Heuser; a son, Kent (Lynette) Heuser, Rich Hill, MO; a daughter, Rae A. Heuser, Shawnee, KS; four grandchildren: Preston, Ryan, Josh and Kurt; 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leon Gudde, Harrisonville, MO.

Obituary - Basil Tarzan (B.T.) Webb, Jr,

Basil Tarzan (B.T.) Webb, Jr, 83 of Drexel, MO passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. Memorial services will be at the Mullinax Funeral Home 136 E Main St Drexel MO (816-657-4400) on Sunday October 8, 2023. 

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with services following at 2:00 PM. B.T. will be cremated. His family is requesting memorial donations in B.T.’s honor to: Drexel United Methodist Church 304 E Walnut St. Drexel, MO 64742 or Drexel Golf Association 219 E Ethel, Drexel, MO 6474. B.T. was born on October 10, 1939 in Clinton, MO to Basil Tarzan (B.T.) Webb, Sr. and Velma Ruth (Shanks). He graduated from Drexel High School Class in 1957 and was a member of the US Army Reserve.

B.T. married the love of his life, Bertha Joyce (Case), on February 14, 1960. He and Joyce had four children; Tracy, Robin, Trent and Brenden. B.T. retired from Hallmark Cards in 1994 after working for the company for 36 years. He spent his retirement time playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. B.T. loved to play golf. Many of his younger golf partners were referred to by B.T. as his adopted sons, including Tom, Todd, Brian, Joe and several others. During retirement he began working for the local grocery store where he enjoyed interacting with his co-workers and members of the community.

B.T. was an active member of the Drexel Community for many years. He was a Coach of the high school girls’ softball teams, he served as a local officer of the Drexel Golf Association, and was a member of the Drexel’s City Council for 17 years. During retirement, B.T. and Joyce enjoyed several cruises and trips to Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents, B.T. Webb Sr. and Velma Ruth (Shanks), and an infant son Tracy Todd in 1963. He is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughter Robin (Ron)Peters of Smithville, MO, son Basil Trent (Laurie)Webb of Leawood KS, and his son Brenden Ward (Laura)Webb of Overland Park KS. He also is survived by his brother Larry (Nancy Jo) Webb of Plattsburg and his sister Judy (Webb) Brewster of Overland Park. B.T. and Joyce have 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandsons, 2 great grandsons and multiple nieces and nephews.

Where: Northbound I-49 on and off ramps CLOSED between Nevada and Rich Hill in Vernon and Bates counties. Ramps will be closed individually and not all at the same time.

When: Between Tuesday, October 3 and Wednesday, October 11

Details: The northbound I-49 on and off ramps CLOSED for safety reasons while contractor crews remove the current I-49 asphalt driving surface and replace it with a new one. Northbound I-49 ramps will be closed individually and not all at the same time. This is part of a resurfacing project on I-49 in Bates and Vernon counties.

Traffic Impacts:Northbound I-49 on and off ramps CLOSED individually and not all at the same time

At least one lane of I-49 will be OPEN in each direction at all times
Contractor crews will be working during daytime hours, 5 a.m.-8 p.m.

Speed limit reduced to 60 mph where crews are working
Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone

No signed detours

Drivers should find alternate routes around the work zone
Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
