Obituary - Basil Tarzan (B.T.) Webb, Jr,

Basil Tarzan (B.T.) Webb, Jr, 83 of Drexel, MO passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. Memorial services will be at the Mullinax Funeral Home 136 E Main St Drexel MO (816-657-4400) on Sunday October 8, 2023. 

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with services following at 2:00 PM. B.T. will be cremated. His family is requesting memorial donations in B.T.’s honor to: Drexel United Methodist Church 304 E Walnut St. Drexel, MO 64742 or Drexel Golf Association 219 E Ethel, Drexel, MO 6474. B.T. was born on October 10, 1939 in Clinton, MO to Basil Tarzan (B.T.) Webb, Sr. and Velma Ruth (Shanks). He graduated from Drexel High School Class in 1957 and was a member of the US Army Reserve.

B.T. married the love of his life, Bertha Joyce (Case), on February 14, 1960. He and Joyce had four children; Tracy, Robin, Trent and Brenden. B.T. retired from Hallmark Cards in 1994 after working for the company for 36 years. He spent his retirement time playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. B.T. loved to play golf. Many of his younger golf partners were referred to by B.T. as his adopted sons, including Tom, Todd, Brian, Joe and several others. During retirement he began working for the local grocery store where he enjoyed interacting with his co-workers and members of the community.

B.T. was an active member of the Drexel Community for many years. He was a Coach of the high school girls’ softball teams, he served as a local officer of the Drexel Golf Association, and was a member of the Drexel’s City Council for 17 years. During retirement, B.T. and Joyce enjoyed several cruises and trips to Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents, B.T. Webb Sr. and Velma Ruth (Shanks), and an infant son Tracy Todd in 1963. He is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughter Robin (Ron)Peters of Smithville, MO, son Basil Trent (Laurie)Webb of Leawood KS, and his son Brenden Ward (Laura)Webb of Overland Park KS. He also is survived by his brother Larry (Nancy Jo) Webb of Plattsburg and his sister Judy (Webb) Brewster of Overland Park. B.T. and Joyce have 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandsons, 2 great grandsons and multiple nieces and nephews.
