It's grass fire season...

Earlier today Drexel Fire Department with help from Amsterdam Fire Department worked grass fire approximately 10 acres in size which also ignited a pile of tires on south Lake Road just outside of Drexel. This afternoon Adrian Fire, along with Butler and Central Cass Fire Departments worked a grass fire approximately 3 acres in size just North of Adrian, which sparked a fire to an abandoned mobile home on the property. The mobile home sustained moderate damage.

Everyone is urged to exercise extreme caution when doing a controlled burn; keep a garden hose handy and don't leave the fire unattended for any length of time. Also, avoid burning when the wind is blowing- even a light breeze can put the fire out of control in a very short time in extreme dry conditions.
