Stella Novella (Dollie) Morgenstern Benz, 96, Adrian, MO, died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Adrian. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 21 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Warrensburg, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adrian Manor Culture Center Fund or to the Bykota House International Orphan Aid, c/o the Atkinson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Adrian, MO 64720.
Dollie was born January 26, 1915 in Lincoln, MO, the daughter of Samuel and Myrtle (Randsdall) Morgenstern. She was united in marriage to Warren Ervin Benz. To this union two children were born, Ervin Eugene and Shirley Maxine. During her life, Dollie lived in Hughesville, Knob Noster, Warrensburg and Adrian, Missouri.
Dollie lived a very active life serving her Lord, Jesus Christ, through the years at the Baptist churches where she lived. One of the highlights of her life was the Warrensburg First Baptist Kitchenaires Band – a band of seniors playing their favorite kitchen utensils; they traveled many places entertaining others. Dollie was a retired manager from Montgomery Ward and Senior Adult Ministry Leader, First Baptist Church both of Warrensburg, MO. Dollie’s greatest concern in life was for others – that they might know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Benz, one son, Ervin Benz and one granddaughter, Carol Benz Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Benz Dizney Williams and husband, Loyd of Adrian, MO; daughter-in-law, Micki Benz of Florida; grandchildren, Pam Dizney McCanles and husband, Jerry of Butler, MO; Michael Dizney and wife, Carol of Harrisonville, MO; Warren Dizney and wife, Teresa of Adrian, MO; Gary Dizney and wife, Fay of Adrian, MO; David Benz of St. Joseph, MO; Melody Benz of Platt City, MO; Merrilee Benz Nightingale and husband, Jerry of Florida; Mark Benz and wife, Rhonda of Cambodia; 31 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren.
