JOPLIN, Mo. – Nov. 2, 2011 – The Ten for Joplin project is in need of volunteers to complete the construction of 10 homes for tornado-impacted families before Thanksgiving.
The project is a partnership between Tulsa and Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity teams, the City of Joplin, surrounding businesses and organizations, and thousands of volunteers to rebuild Joplin.
With walls raised last Saturday, roofs complete and siding scheduled to be installed today, this fast-paced project that relies on volunteers still needs help to see it through to fruition.
“If you’ve never worked on a Habitat home, now is the time,” said Jane Dunbar, director of development for Tulsa Habitat for Humanity. “No past building experience is necessary as we provide all the training you’ll need on-site, so come be a part of this historic and rewarding project.”
Volunteer slots are available every day through Nov. 12. Go to www.tenforjoplin.org, print the volunteer waiver and bring it to volunteer registration at E. 20th St. and Iowa Ave. in Joplin. Registration takes place between 7 and 7:30 a.m. and the build day is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lunch, snacks and water are provided.
