Barbara Maxine (Berry) Yost's story began on April 15, 1932 in Jericho Springs, Missouri and came to a close on March 10, 2013 at her home in Butler. She was born to Bill and Estel Berry. On December 15, 1951 Barbara was united in marriage to Lonnie Acy Yost in Lockwood Missouri and from this union four children were born.
Barbara dedicated her life to the Lord at a young age and spent many years as a Sunday School Teacher for the Assembly of God Churches. Barbara and her family moved to Bates County in 1954. Barbara started her working career at the Pine Tree Nursing Home in Butler. She worked from 1967 to 1983 at Sears and Roebuck in Butler. She may be mostly remembered as the Avon Lady since she proudly worked for Avon for 25 years.
Barbara enjoyed a variety of pastimes such as television game shows, playing cards, doing puzzles, and spoiling her grandchildren. But her favorite pastime was watching Chiefs' football. After retiring, Barbara worked Bates County Elections in Amoret and volunteered with the Amoret Senior Citizens making toys for children from different hospitals.
Barbara is survived by two sons Steven Yost and wife Joy of Harvest, Alabama and Billy Yost of Butler, one daughter Michelle Schroeder and husband Gene of Butler, grandchildren Abby and Michael Coleman, Lila Kay and Neal Brooks, Joshua and Hilary Yost, Tyler and Leah Haines, Blaine Schroeder, Jesse Yost, Breauna Schroeder, and Lonnie Yost, two great grandchildren Mariah Coleman and Piper Yost, one sister Donna Box and husband Afton of Springfield Missouri, three brother-in-laws Bob Hall of Springfield, Harold Yost of Lockwood, and Alvin Jones and wife Debbie of Greenfield, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbara was reunited in Heaven with husband Lonnie Yost, daughter and son-in-law Verna and David Haines, sister Beatrice Hall, and her favorite dog Wilkie.
