Obituary - Ester Marie Shouse


SERVICE for Mrs. Shouse will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

 MINISTER will be Pastor Michael Manz.

VISITATION will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.

MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS be made to VITAS Hospice - Research Inpatient Care


Ester Marie Shouse, daughter of James H. and Lola Fay Williamson, was born April 11, 1929 in Appleton City, Missouri. She passed away March 9, 2013 at 83 years of age.
Ester was born on the family farm in Appleton City, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Roy Haskell Shouse on November 13, 1947 in Clinton, Missouri.

Ester spent all her life in the Ohio, Rockville and Schell City area and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City, Missouri. During this time she was a nurse’s aide at Ellett Memorial Hospital and Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Appleton City, Missouri and Community Springs Nursing Home in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. She also wrapped meat at Motts Meat Co. as well as Down Home Butcher Shop in Rockville, Missouri.
Ester enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, horseback riding and especially planting a garden and canning the many things she grew. Two weeks ago, with help from family members, she canned 123 quarts of beans.

Ester was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings: Harvey Williamson, Mary Clark, Ida Gibbins, Ruby Williamson, Clara Rice, Jay Williamson, Dorothy Ruth Williamson (infant); son-in-law, Yuell Willis; daughter, Helen Willis; son, Danny Shouse; step-son, Wayne Shouse and granddaughter, Royanna Shouse.

Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Willis and Nellie Gilkey (Eldon); five sons, Richard Shouse, James “Pete” Shouse (Rhonda), Roy Shouse, Jr., Fred Shouse and Boyd Shouse; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Shouse; grandchildren, Kendall Willis, Shari Hadley (Jim), Biron Miller (Vicki), Chris Murdock, Jeremy Shouse (Coley), George Gilkey (Emily), Danielle Shouse, Austin Shouse, and Chloe Shouse; great-grandchildren, Oliver Setzer, Shelby Shouse, Jarren Shouse, Katelynn Shouse, Kallie Gilkey, Katie Gilkey, and Kinley Gilkey; and sister-in-law, Audrey Shouse.
