Kooper Kason Yates was born March 31st, 2012. He is a happy carefree 1 year old who is healthy but he is that way because we are very cautious about his diet and health. You wouldn't know it by looking at him but everyday of his life he deals with a genetic condition called MCADD (Medium chain acly-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency) effects 1 in 17,000 people. what it is, is a fatty acid oxidation disorder inherited from both his parents. His body lacks what is takes to break down any fatty food, he will be on a low fat high carb diet. It also effects his health, if not taking care of properly he can become very sick and end up in the hospital or worse. We go to Children's Mercy north to see his genetics doctors, nutritionists, and counselors.
His family is having shirts and car decals made to show awareness for Kooper an any other child who deals with something on a daily basses.
The shirts come is kids sizes 6 months to 7 years and adults sizes small to 5XL. There is not a set price yet but can be anywhere from $10-$15 an decals are $4 a piece.
