Two people were arrested Wednesday evening when Vernon County authorities searched their residence and turned up drugs, drug paraphernalia, a rifle and a loaded handgun. The two -- a man and woman -- are expected to face multiple charges, Sheriff Jason Mosher said, adding he anticipated having those charges filed today in Vernon County Circuit Court.
Temporarily, the two were placed in the Vernon County Jail on a 24-hour hold. The names of the two people were not released pending the filing of formal charges.
Mosher said the search, which occurred around 6 p.m., would take some time for his office to complete because the search had to be methodical and thorough. Numerous pieces of equipment and machinery had to be examined and a number of outbuildings had to be searched, in addition tothe house.
Mosher directed deputies to begin taking numbers from all-terrain vehicles and other equipment and machinery on the property.
