Gov. Nixon signs several bills, including new laws on service dogs, public health measures on TB, and expansion of telehealth services
JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Jay Nixon today signed into law several bills, including Senate Bill 33, which will ensure those with disabilities can utilize service dogs, and also designates Dec. 4 as "PKS Day"; Senate Bill 197, which will help protect the public from the spread of tuberculosis, and provide information to college students regarding meningococcal disease; and House Bill 315, a health care services law which will help pharmacies refill prescriptions on an emergency basis, and also help expand telehealth capabilities in Missouri.
In addition, the Governor also signed the following bills:
- Senate Bill 36, which enables juvenile courts to retain jurisdiction over future cases involving juveniles who are tried as adults, but found not guilty of the offense;
- Senate Bill 72, which designates May as "Motorcycle Awareness Day" and Dec. 4 as "PKS Day";
- Senate Bill 121, which deals with liquor laws, including creating a temporary liquor permit for festivals and making it easier for beer brewed at home for personal or family use to be taken to competition and other judging events;
- House Bill 133, which changes state laws regarding the accreditation requirements for reinsurance companies in order to comply with a 2010 federal law; and
- House Bill 656, which combines the parking enforcement division and the parking meter division in the City of St. Louis into the parking division.
