A clear glimpse of the past- 1939 Butler movie now available thanks to the Butler Lions Club

A walk around the historic Butler square will put you up close and personal with the well preserved architecture that has helped make our town famous...

At that, have you ever wondered how life really was 'back then' in Butler? According to Bates County icon C.A. Moore, at one time Butler had some four newspapers, five grocery stores, 20 gas stations and more-all the while Butler's population was around 2,000 people.

Now you can get a clear glimpse into the past as the Butler Lions Club, as part of their 75th anniversary, is offering the re-mastered version of the famous 1939 Butler 'movie' on DVD.

Narration on the video was provided by C.A. Moore and Leroy Cook and you'll see all types of stores; school and civic events including Boy and Girl Scouts; high school bands and pep clubs; the legendary Fisk Theatre and much more- just as it really was, 'way back then'.

The video was produced in conjunction with the Lions Club by Home Video Studio of Lee's Summit Mo. and is available at Corner Hardware 107 W. Ohio St. in Butler. Single copy is $20; get two for just $30 and make one a dandy gift. Running time is 1 hour, 50 minutes.
