Weather Update: In A Drought

It's amazing how quickly drought can develop in an area. This graphic depicts percent of normal precipitation values for 7 days, 15 days, 30 days, and 60 days. Note how in the past 60 days, going back to mid-May, many areas still have a surplus of precipitation. But precipitation has shut off in the last 30 days and especially in the two weeks and the images quickly become mostly pink, which indicates 10% or less of normal precipitation. With the extreme dryness in the last month to month and half, much of northwestern Missouri and eastern Kansas have ventured back into drought.
