PAPINVILLE PICNIC 2013

All plans are moving forward for the 22nd Annual Papinville Picnic. The Papinville Picnic Committee report the following things have been set to happen on Saturday, September 28th, 2013.  The building will open at 1 o’clock pm with music beginning around 2 o’clock pm.

Pies may be entered in the “Pie Contest” between 2 o’clock and 3:30pm with judging beginning promptly at 3:30pm.  The awards to the winners and the auctioning of the pies will be at approximately 4:30pm with the meal to follow.  The Papinville Picnic Committee continue to sell tickets on the quilt, afghan and doily.  These items will be given away at6 pm.

Other activities that will be held during the afternoon include: children’s games, cake walk and talks in the school and museum.  At 2 o’clock pm, there will be a short talk by Beverly.  This will be followed by a historical wagon ride by Phyllis.  During the wagon ride you will receive information about the homes and businesses in the 1800’s.

This tour will cost $4 for adults and $2 for school age children.  To reserve your seat on this tour, simply call Beverly at 417-395-4288 or Phyllis at 417-395-2594.  A lot of things will remain the same as in years past.  Handicapped parking is available on the school grounds, with regular parking in the lot south east of the school.  Visitors may park on the left hand side of the road but not on the right hand side. This must be kept clear for the wagon rides.  Bring your lawn chairs and a dessert for the dessert table.  You may designate a cake for the cake walk.  Please use disposable pans only.  The menu will remain the same as in the past.  The committee will be passing out surveys to those in attendance so they can receive input from the public on what the Papinville Picnic Committee can make better in the coming years.  Remember the date, September 28th.  Come out and have fun, be educated about Papinville and its colorful past, visit friends and enjoy the music and food.

Remember Papinville is the place to be on September 28th.
