Confusion Over Who Can Get Flu Shots At The Bates County Health Center

It’s that time again---time to get your yearly flu shot!

Bates County Health Center will begin giving flu shots starting on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. No appointments required, open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Extended hours include remaining open until 7:00 p.m. the first Thursday of every month. Flu shots are available on a first come first served basis as long as vaccine is available.

With the changes to the federal VFC program last October, there is still some confusion about who can get a flu shot in our office. Those who can get a flu shot at the Health Center include:

*Children 18 and under that qualify (Medicaid covered, uninsured, American Indian/Alaska Native or underinsured) may receive a flu shot through the VFC program
*Individuals covered by Medicare Part B
*Anyone else at a cost of $25.00

This applies to flu shots ONLY.

Pregnant women must provide a written order from their physician in order to receive a flu shot.

Please call our office at 660-679-6108 for further clarification if needed.
