On November 13th Bates County Industries sent out it's first load of glass to be recycled. After collecting it for 6 months the glass load weighed 15ton. This is a huge amount to be able to keep out of the trash and landfills. Ripple glass from Kansas City picked up the glass where it will be recycled back into more bottles or insulation for Owen Corning.
BCI does not receive any funds for recycling glass. We just knew this was a project that was needed in this area and glass recycling fits verywell with the paper, aluminum, plastic and cardboard recycling program thatis already established.
Weston Colburn of Ready Concrete Services graciously donated his machinery and his time to load all the glass from the bunker into Ripple's semi truck. Bates County Industries is located on North Business 49 and west Route TT. Please come by or call 660-679-3667 for more information on the recycling program. BCI provides dignified employment for Adults with disabilities.
