Butler
resident, Alvin O. Griffin, was honored recently for his service to
the Masonic fraternity with the investiture of the 33rd
and highest degree in
Freemasonry. At a ceremony in Joplin, Missouri, on November 9th,
2013, Mr. Griffin received the honor that less than 5% of all Masons
attain, the white cap of a 33rd degree
Scottish Rite Mason.
Mr.
Griffin has served the Butler community and the Masonic fraternity in
a large variety of roles including Master of Butler Masonic Lodge
#254, District Deputy Grand Lecturer for the Grand Lodge of the State
of Missouri, Commander of the Ararat Flying Fez Club, President of
Bates County Shrine Club, Secretary Treasure of Bates County
Scottish-rite Club, Master of the Kansas City Lodge of Perfection, 13
Brothers DeMolay Chapter Adviser, and many more. He has also served
in many capacities within the Community and has been a tireless
supporter of many organizations.
Recognized
for his service to both his community and his fraternity, Mr. Griffin
as a 33rd Degree
Mason is destined for even greater roles of responsibility and
leadership. The Scottish rite, headquartered locally in Kansas City,
sponsors a Childhood Language disorders clinic in partnership with
Children’s Mercy Hospital. In addition, numerous charitable
activities including the annual KC Veteran’s Stand Down, require
the service and dedication of members as well as experienced leaders
such as Mr. Griffin. The many community activities and events
sponsored and supported by the Butler Masonic groups are evidence of
the civic dedication of all the members, just like Alvin, and display
the regional reach of the fraternity beyond the city.
The
Kansas City Scottish Rite is extremely proud to have Alvin Griffin as
a member and a leader. The community of Butler can be very proud to
have produced such a dedicated community servant, now recognized with
the highest degree of Freemasonry.
