With the end of the 2013 quickly approaching fm92 spoke with Bates
County Treasurer Jim Platt regarding the holidays and the December 31st
deadline.
The treasurer’s office will be closed December 24th and
December 25th for Christmas but will be open all day December 31st for
you to pay your Bates County personal and property taxes. His office
will close at 4:30pm on December 31st.
The treasurer’s office also
has a metal drop box in front of the License Bureau for your convenience
and you will be able to use that drop box only until until midnight
December 31st.
If you choose to mail your check it must be
postmarked December 31st to avoid a penalty. Be safe and take your
envelope into the Post Office and give it directly to the person behind
the counter and ask them to make sure it’s postmarked December 31st.
Many different ways to avoid paying a penalty this year.
