Structure Fire In Clinton
The Clinton Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1009 E. Franklin shortly after 8 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6.
Upon arrival fire was coming from both ends of the structure around the roof. Firefighters entered the structure and gained access to the fire through the second floor ceiling. The fire was brought under control and firefighters began to focus on protecting the occupants’ contents. With the efforts of the firefighters a majority of the contents were able to be protected in place by covering them with coverings.
The fire damage was held to the attic and roof as well as significant water damage to the second floor. The pets of the residence were removed during the fire and moved to a neighboring residence. The estimated damages are $40,000 to the structure and $5,000 in content damage.
No one was home at the time of the fire and as a result no injuries were reported. The residence did not have working smoke detectors and the Clinton Fire Department would like to remind everyone that smoke detectors save lives and need to be maintained regularly.
The fire displaced two adults and their four children. They are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
