Prosecutors from the office of Missouri attorney-general are to assist the Barton County prosecutor. Public defender Thomas Jacquinot has obtained an order from 28th circuit presiding judge James R. Bickel allowing Bourne to appear in person -- rather than by closed-circuit video -- for a formal circuit court arraignment February 19. Barton County Prosecutor Seeking Death Penalty In Adriaunna Horton Murder Case
Barton County prosecutor Steven Kaderly says he plans to seek the death penalty for a Lockwood man charged with killing a Golden City girl last August. 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton was abducted from a Golden City park and her body was found a couple of days later in nearby Dade County. An autopsy report said she had been strangled. 34-year-old Bobby Bourne, Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and rape and was bound over to Barton County circuit court for trial nearly a month ago. Kaderly has filed a notice will seek the death penalty -- citing five aggravating circumstances required by state law -- if Bourne is convicted.
