Weather Update: Severe Weather Chances Continue Today and Monday

The potential for severe weather will continue today and persist into Monday. Mother's Day conditions are expected to remain dry over much of the forecast area through this afternoon (with the exception of extreme northern MO).

Thunderstorms are then expected to develop late this afternoon across north central Kansas to southeastern Nebraska and into southwestern Iowa. These storms will initially develop as discrete supercells capable of producing tornadoes and large hail. Th...ese storms will evolve into a line of storms as they move east into the forecast area this evening/tonight. These storms will have the potential to produce large hail and damaging winds with the potential for tornadoes early on across extreme northwestern Missouri. These storms will continue to move across the entire outlook area Sunday night before weakening through the overnight hours. Monday, a cold front will move through the forecast area. There is the potential for severe weather along this front Monday afternoon and evening. However, morning storms on Monday may limit afternoon instability so severe potential is conditional at this time. If afternoon storms do become severe on Monday the main concerns would be for damaging winds and large hail
