Near Drowning in Clinton

On Tuesday, June 24th, Clinton Police were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of East Grandriver in reference to an infant who had fallen into a pool and was not breathing. Upon arrival, officers encountered a mother with her 2 year old son. She had started resuscitation efforts and the child was starting to breath on its own. Police further assisted with those efforts. Upon the arrival of Golden Valley Medical personnel, the child was transported to the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he was flown to a hospital in the Kansas City area. The child was in the back yard of the home where a pool is located and was left unattended for a short time. During that time the child was able to enter the pool and was found there by the mother. The Clinton Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind all citizens that it only takes a few seconds for an infant to drown in a pool. Please watch them carefully during the warm weather season and remember that your vigilance is the key to safety.
