(Cremation) Memorial visitation for Jessie Paxton will be from 2:00 – 3:30 PM Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Mullinax Funeral Home in Butler, Missouri (660-679-0009). Jessie Irene (Carroll) Paxton, 83 of Butler, Missouri passed away June 12, 2014 at her home under care of hospice and watched over by her two daughters. Jessie was born October 21, 1930 in Adrian, Missouri, daughter of Charles Oral and Eva Helen (O’dea) Carroll.
Jessie graduated from Butler High School. In 1949, she was married to Ray Dean Baumgarden; he was father to three children: Sharon Kay, Marsha Fay and Kenneth Aaron. Ray died in 1990. She was later married to Robert Hugh Paxton, father to David Hugh.
Her first job was at Sears & Roebuck Catalog Warehouse in Kansas City, Missouri; later she worked for Western Electric in Lee’s Summit, Missouri until retiring at the age of 55. She then bought property in the Ballard district to be near her siblings.
She loved spending time at the lake, as well as being in her yard enjoying her flowers and listening to the birds.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bobbie Joe; a sister, Ruby Coraetta Johnson; husband, Robert Paxton; and a granddaughter, Brandy Michelle Copeland. She is survived by her daughters Sharon K. Smith and Marsha Fay Craig; sons Kenneth Aaron Baumgarden and David H. Paxton; five siblings: Charles Carroll, Jr., and wife Louise; Lina Lou Allen; Margie Craig; Thomas Carroll and wife Dora; and Wanda Wainscott and husband Ross; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and of course, many nieces and nephews.
