Charles Allen Hart |
Vernon County deputies had been searching for a Sheldon man, Charles
Allen Hart, after he reportedly hit a deputy on the head with a bottle
on June 11 in Sheldon. The 31-year-old suspect was found in Webb City
and returned to Vernon County. He was booked into the jail Friday.
Sheriff Jason Mosher said Tuesday that the sheriff's office had been following tips in an attempt to locate Hart.
"We had been checking every location in our county that we heard he might have been in," he said. "We heard he might have left the county, so we sent out information to surrounding counties."
Mosher said deputies working the case learned that Hart was possibly making plans to move and reside outside of the county.
Hart was being held in the Vernon County Jail on charges of first-degree assaulting a law enforcement officer and possession of a controlled substance. Mosher said that warrants for both alleged crimes were filed at the same time, but came from instances that happened on separate dates. Hart's cash-only bond, combined for both charges, is set at $250,000.
